You are correct! If they are using Triad, they are just wasting their time with phone calls. They are NOT a registered collection agency, according to the search. This is just a tactic to scare people with calls. If you get a letter from them first, which is what a legit agency must do BEFORE making calls, you can contact the Ontario Protection Agency, provide them with any info that is on the letter (if they have a "claim" number, a "registered" agency number) and see if its legit. If they went with a legit agency, they would have to take a loss if people paid through the agency. They would only get back a certain amount, as they would have to pay the agency. I hope people are reading this thread and are getting informed!
