selling Marriott Vacation club points

I have more Marriott Vacation club points than I can use this year. Some points I can push into 2016, but rather than let the rest expire, I want to sell them on Redweek. How do you sell points? All I see is specific weeks at a resort for sale. Does one need to secure a week with Marriott, then post, or is there a way just to sell the points (which would seem more desirable for a purchaser anyway)?

On the RedWeek website you can rent your extra points by either reserving a week at what you think is the most popular resort and posting it for rent, or you can post rental ads or one or more of the resorts with the date range you can reserve a week. You would just need to mention in the Details section of the posting that you would need to contact the resort for availability prior to booking the week.
