Building unit unassigned

What does it mean when a listing says building unit unassigned? Are you nit renting directly with an owner on a specific unit? Thanks. Nancy

People who own "floating" or "flex" weeks (as opposed to owning specific "fixed" weeks) generally do not know which unit they will be assigned when they reserve a week --- and they usually have no say nor any choice regarding the unit to be assigned. Only fixed week owners who own a specific week in a specific unit know their unit identification in advance; their owned fixed unit / week does not change from year to year (unlike with floating / flex weeks, which will rarely ever be in the same unit).

Another possibility to be wary of is that an advertiser may be attempting to rent out a week that they do not actually own at all, but have instead acquired for one time personal use as an "exchange" from RCI or II. In such cases, the person will not know the unit to be assigned. By the way, both RCI and II strictly prohibit the rental of any weeks obtained from them as an "exchange", so try to make sure that the advertiser actually owns what they are offering for rent. Steer clear of attempted (and prohibited) rentals of any weeks obtained by "exchange". If caught, a would-be tenant could be denied occupancy and the "violating wannabe landlord" could have their exchange company membership suspended or terminated.

I am trying to list a cabin we have for Big Cedar Wilderness club. No where does it let me select "cabin" for the unit I am renting out. Why not?

Tony - we're still working on getting our unit types functionality added for Big Cedar Wilderness Club! This means that currently, the options for adding new postings are our standard default unit descriptions, which use the "unit" descriptor. We'd encourage you to posting your cabin as a unit with the number of bedrooms it has, and then use the "posting details" section to state that your posting is a cabin, along with any extra features or benefits a cabin may entail.
