How do I let my Marriott resort know I rented my timeshare?

We decided to rent our Marriott timeshare out at the last minute - how do I let the resort know my guest will be checking in and using it instead? Do I have to pay a guest certificate fee?

Contact Marriott Owner Services (if your resort is in the United States or Canada, phone: 800-845-4226. If your resort is located in Europe or Asia, phone: 800-650-5720) and ask to add your renter's name to your reservation as the person checking into your unit. Marriott does not currently charge a guest certificate fee.

Owner Services will then e-mail you a Reservation Confirmation that will have your name as the responsible party and the renter's name as your guest. You can forward a copy to the renter so he or she can take it with them to check-in. The renter will also be required to have photo identification, a credit card in their name, and be at least 25 years old.

Please remember that you will be 100% responsible while your renter is at your timeshare resort, so be sure they know the differences between a timeshare and a hotel, and they fully understand all of your resort's house rules (such as check-in/check-out times, maid service, quiet times, the pet and no smoking rules, etc.) to avoid any misunderstandings later.

I own Week 10, when I called to just let them know we are coming, they had nothing left for my week. We bought it specifically to use every year at March break. Can they legally rent out my unit without consulting me. They have offered me the following week which does not work for us, our flights are booked. Help please!

Linda that is strange, the people I would talk to is owner services at Marriott Ownership. Also, they have ways of switching the resort for you - I know it’s not what you want to hear, but sometimes, they have locations close by that they also own they could have you use that week there instead (there may be a fee), but if you have a particular week- you should be able to deposit for it and reserve.
