Renting a Timeshare From an Owner is a marketplace for owners to rent or sell their timeshare weeks - giving you access to condo-style accommodations at incredible rates (and no timeshare sales tours whatsoever). In some cases, RedWeek or another company manages the rental for the owner, so you may occasionally deal with a third-party.

Here are some tips on how to rent a timeshare:

  1. Find a timeshare resort

Search or browse through locations to find timeshare resorts that interest you. On each resort page, you can view all timeshare rental postings currently available.

  2. Submit Booking Requests

When you find a rental offer that interests you on a resort page, click "View Posting" to see more. If you are not already a member, you will be asked to upgrade your account in order to view full details and make contact. This membership is just $18.99 for 12 months and gives you access to all resort reviews, and e-mailing other owners.

If you have questions about the rental, you can ask the owner a question. When you are ready to book, just click "Request to Book".

Select rentals offer RedWeek Payment Protection which means RedWeek is helping the owner with the transaction. When you submit a booking request with RedWeek Payment Protection, you will sign the rental agreement upfront, and submit with your credit card payment. This is not an instant booking — the owner will still need to accept your offer, and change the name on the reservation before it is confirmed. This usually takes about 5 days.

  3. Finalize your rental and enjoy!

In cases where you are dealing directly with the owner, you are free to work out whatever terms you both feel comfortable with. Here are some options that you and the owner can discuss:

    • Vacation Rental Escrow Service

Use this unique vacation escrow service to bring a secure third-party into your transaction. First American Title will handle the collection and transfer of rental funds to ensure both parties' interests are protected.

    • Privately Managed Transaction

Coordinate your rental transaction directly with another member, taking your own security precautions.

We recommend that you request a reservation confirmation e-mail from the owner or a reservation confirmation number that can be used to verify the unit is in your name.

We also recommend that you do not purchase any non-refundable air and or car rental packages prior to confirming your timeshare reservation.

Please let us know which rental process worked for you, or if you have found alternative methods of transacting that we should consider.

Quick Tips:

If you are unable to connect with the owner to get the week you want, just let us know and we would be happy to help you find an alternative or refund your membership fee.

Always make sure you know who you are dealing with and take steps to ensure a safe, secure transaction. If you receive excuses or resistance as to why an owner or broker will not comply with these security measures, or feel uncomfortable dealing with the person in any way, do not send payment and report your concerns to us immediately.
