New to renting out our week, Help

May 18, 2015

We are total novices in terms of renting out our timeshare week. We now have gotten two responses to our red week ad. Questions:

1) Can I just ask for the renter to send me a certified check or bank check for the week and once received I will notify Marriott of their name and time they are going?

2) Do I need to ask for a copy of their driver license so I know who I am renting to? And can I give them my mobile number to tell them what to do to secure the unit?

3) Do I need to carry liability insurance for that week in case someone breaks something and if so, how much?

4.) Do I need to carry liability insurance if one of the renters gets injured on the property or in the unit?

Many resorts ask the renter to provide a credit card upon checking in and will charge it if any damage is done to the unit. You should check with your resort to see what their policy is.
