Re: Omega Marketing Solutions any one had dealings with them? (by Gary M.):

I feel badly that people are so desperate to make a living they have to take these kinds of jobs

Hi Sheila. Don't feel too badly for the sales reps that work for the advance fee timeshare resale companies. They're not taking a telemarketing job that pays a hourly wage with a small commission just to make a meager living.

These resale companies pay straight commission in most cases. The commission generally will run about 30%-35% of whatever money they take the timeshare owner for. Most of the companies are looking to make around $600-$1000 per sale. They will go for more if they think they can get it or they will go for less if they know they can't get it. These reps are also on a sliding commission scale that can go up to 50%-60% of the sale once their weekly sales total meet those goals.

The people that are desperate for a job to make a living will not usually get into this type of job since they want a guaranteed pay check. The individuals that work and sell these resale scams are usually very polished phone pros. In Florida where most of these companies operate from there a literally hundreds upon hundreds of every type of phone room imaginable selling vacations, timeshare resales, forex investments, website packages or any other number of products or services that can be sold via the phone. Most of these companies work on a straight commission basis. The reps that work these jobs are always looking for greener pastures and will go to a business that offers them a chance for more money.

The reps that work these phone rooms are a far cry from the poor single mother who needs any type job to feed the kids or a father trying to support his family on $8 an hour. These reps are well paid and they now what they are doing, trying to scam timeshare owners out of their money. Some will try and justify what they are doing as evident from some posts here from these types of reps proclaiming how great their resale company is. Others will admit flat out (not to their timeshare owner victims though), it's a worthless service they offer but that doesn't matter because they are making some nice money.

Obviously, like in any type sales not everyone is cut out for straight commission. These companies aren't hiring those who don't have some sort of proven phone sales experience. They are hiring what is called phone pros.

In the timeshare advance fee resale business it is not unusual for the average sales rep to make $40,000 to $50,000 a year. The superstars will make $75,000 to $100,00 a year. You see what their motivation is, not to help the timeshare owner sale their unit but to have the timeshare owners pay for their checks.
