Point rental liquidators rep says they will convert my current week owned in SC plus this new purcase in TX to points and that money will pay for the new resort, all maintenance fees and I receive a check for the remaining monies left over. IS THIS A SCAM. I have until tomorrow evening to cancel this agreement. Please help me save myself if this is a scam!

If you are inclined to still go for it, find out whose properties they represent and contact their source(s)...better still, get their tax i I.D. number and credentials to check them out. Get statements or affidavits from them and the call the better business bureau to see if they are legit..
Better yet, avoid it....
I received an announcement of an African investment I know nothing about that is awaiting my bank info and a modest e-check of $350 for paperwork transfers to allow them to forward me $325, 000. Hmmmmm.......

I was just thinking. Since Sunset Harbor won't answer their phones. I would send them a certified letter demanding a certified copy of your deeds or notify them that you won't be paying maintenance fees since they can't show that you own property there. Everyone that got caught up in this scam should send them notice that they are not obligated to pay them anymore money. That is the first step to get out of the mess that BJ Cooke and his scam machine caused. There is a good chance that they may not have filed the proper paperwork to transfer title.

Since Sunset Harbor Resorts' and Point Rental Liquidators' corporate headquarters are located in Las Vegas, NV, I wonder if it's the Nevada Attorney General's Office that we should be filing complaints to.... I filed with La. & Texas, but didn't get very far with it. What if we all set a date or deadline and we all flood them with complaints all at the same time???..... How about we will all gather our information the rest of this week and this weekend, then start mailing the complaint forms Monday Jan 21 and finishing by Monday Jan 28? Let's ALL file complaints on both companies Sunset Harbor Resorts and Point Rental Liquidators. There's a 2-pg complaint form on their website which has to be printed out, filled out and mailed back to them. There are 2 different addresses, so let's all mail ours to the Las Vegas address since that's where these 2 scammers' offices are located. Maybe we can get the AG realize that this if big and maybe they'll do something! Are you with me? Here's the link to the complaint form (or search Nevada Attorney General) http://ag.state.nv.us/about/complaints/Complaint%20form%20LV%20AG.pdf

Don, At this point, my parents don't even WANT the deed. They know it's not a good deal. They just want out of it.

For those of you that got signed up to join RCI Points Program, did any of you ever receive paperwork from RCI welcoming you to the Points Program or anything? My parents didn't and RCI says they never got any notification that my parents had joined or the fees that the "salesmen" collected for this.

And, you could check with Montgomery County property records to see if the titles have been transferred.

Yes, we finally received our RCI membership in November even though we paid for it in June.
I have emailed RCI several times asking for an explanation as to how our name and phone number ended up with PRL. Of course, they deny selling or giving out the information, but I can't fathom how else it could have been gotten. Anyone have a thought on this?

I sent a letter to the Texas real estate commission with a copy to Sunset Harbor. I got a letter from a Tom Turner saying that he was hired to resolve some of the issues by the Sunset Harbor Resort Luxury Condo Assoc. I talked with him by phone. He claims the Assoc is broke and can barely keep the lights on in the resort. So he was not willing to buy back my deed. He did offer to wave my Maint. fees for2013 and he invitrd me to stay for a week in the largest condo whenever I choose. I will not settle unless they wave Maint. fees forever. What's the chance of that happening?

Looks like we have no choice but to sue them all...
I know Mr Mitchell is somehow involved with the condos and building around there and I doubt the resort is broke..not after the 1800 people that bought. i would think they should be doing ok..
i am not paying maintenance fees

Kudos to you for taking action. That's what all should do that's been scammed by BJ Cooke, Sunset Harbor and any other resorts that's in cahoots with Cooke.
So he was hired to resolve issues concerning Sunset Harbor (I assume he's an attorney), he will not take back your deed but will let you slide on 2013 maintenance fees ..... I laughed out loud at this. It's Sunset Harbor's own fault that they're allegedly broke by teaming up with BJ Cooke's scam operation.
What this man needs to do is find BJ Cooke, see that he is arrested and brought to TX for prosecution then to all other states where he has scammed people.
I cannot believe (after 26,674 posts here) that nothing has been done about this situation .... you people that were scammed by BJ Cooke and Sunset Harbor should go to the ends of the earth to see that they are prosecuted and justice be served.
