I have spent hours checking on this. I called one of the resorts we own and asked how we could change our weeks into points. I was told that we would have to own a unit that is already a points unit, then we could convert our other weeks units into RCI points. The only catch with RCI points is that your points cannot be deposited to the rent pool to earn rental money to pay maintence fees. I'm convinced that PRL is the way to go. the advantage of using the Texas unit to qualify to convert all owned properties to points is that the maintenence fees are so low. At the unit I was asked to buy to qualify for RCI points fees were over $700.

If you signed a legal contract when buying your original timeshare week then there's no way that it can be legally transferred into a points system. The only way that it would be legal is for you to sell your week and buy into a points system.

If you are interested in converting weeks to points I suggest you do more investigating. Call one of your resorts and ask if you can convert weeks to points. They will likely tell you that you need to already own a unit that is on the points system, if not, you will need to buy one to qualify for the exchange. The advantage of the Texas unit is the fees are so low. When I checked one of our weeks units, they said I could buy one of their forclosure units at a lower cost than the Texas unit, however, the fees were over $ 700 per yr compared to under $200 for the Texas unit. If you are happy with using your weeks owned or exchanging them for banked weeks then this program is not for you. We want to be on the points system for all the advanage it has for us.

BEWARE! I highly suspect that the people posting here that say PRL works good actually work for PRL and are part of the scam. My parents just got scammed into signing a contract with Sunset Harbor Resorts in Willis, TX by PRL. PRL reps told my elderly parents all kinds of lies and then put high pressure on them to make a spur of the moment decision and sign the contract. They had implied they were affiliated with RCI, so my parents trusted them. PRL told my parents that Sunset Harbor's condo was comparable with their current timeshare. LIES! Sunset Harbor has a 2.1 out of 5 customer satisfaction rating, compared to a 4.8/5 rating at my parents' current condo. It only costs 4 Trading Power to rent at Sunset Harbor, but it costs 27 Trading Power to rent at my parents' current condo. That's NOT COMPARABLE! My parents had to hire a lawyer because SHR refused to cancel the contract when requested. The 2 phone numbers given to my parents from the 2 salesmen from PRL don't even work. One says it's not a working number and the other one says mailbox is full. PRL and SHR both have an F rating with BBB. You can go online and check it out. I've been reading up on them and this is a very common scam. The agencies say they're hard to catch because they come into a state, quickly scamming a bunch of people, then pack up and leave that state and go set up office in another state. We've reported them to the La. Attorney General's office, the US Crime Complaint Center, RCI, Bank of America, and the BBB. We're waiting to see what happens next. Bank of America wouldn't call the charges "fraudulent" and remove them because my parents did sign the papers. BofA has entered it into the Billing Disputes Dept and have frozen the payments and interest for 90 days. They may or may not be able to settle this, but I was very surprised that they wouldn't just reverse the charges. I've had that done 2 times on my Chase credit card when charges were put on my account, but not by me. Anyway, Sunset Harbor sounds like a real dump. You can read the reviews at RCI.com. The contract is very vague also. These 2 guys from PRL opened 2 new credit card accounts in my parents' names and charged $9500 on them. My parents didn't even know this until a week later when they got the plastic cards in the mail and called BofA and found out the balance. By then, it was past the time you are allowed to cancel the contract (5 days). My parents said these guys are VERY PROFESSIONAL, slick, smooth-talking guys. They had my parents totally believing everything they said.

Hillbillies like you are the ones that screw this up for everyone. Really think an "F" with the BBB means anything? The BBB is the biggest scam out of anyone. Look at bbbscam.net or watch this video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo8kfV9kONw You know who else has an "F" rating??? Wolfgang Puck, The Ritz Carlton, plus many more. Disneyland was an "F" and had to buy their rating. This "nonprofit" organization has 121 offices and have 24 executives that have 6 figure salaries. That money is obtained by buying accreditation. The terrorist group "Hamas" had an "A" rating for $425.
I am 66 years old and have been using PRL for 3 years and I have had a like changing experience. Did your parents even follow the guidelines for the payment timeline or were you expecting payment right at sign up? Ignorance is a killer. Any unaccredited BBB business gets a bad rating after one complaint which usually comes from an idiot like you. I am glad your not my child because mine have been looking at my checks for 3 years and are glad they are not stuck with the maintenance fee. I want to post a beware message too. BEWARE OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO IDEA OF WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. Thank goodness you were there for for parents to keep their current system to pay maintenance fee. I haven't paid dues or an exchange fee since I got involved and we spent 7 consecutive weeks in Arizona. I could never do that with RCI or II. The reason you haven't heard anything from all of these agencies is because they are going to look into it and realize these are legit companies. I don't know who all looks at this but if PRL does then Thank you PRL for giving an elderly couple living on social security a way to pay our dues and still be able to travel. Its amazing how your parents are so elderly to be taken advantage of but has such a vivid memory of their meeting. Ignorance... Sandra

Tinak, your parents said they didn't know they were getting a CC? Almost every timeshare bought is a BofA or Barclays CC. They give you no interst. The app is very detailed and you have to sign it. If they walk around signing credit apps without realizing it maybe you should put them in assisted living. PRL has been great to me. I received $6400 in April for last years points. We used it to pay our $4560 wyndham dues, $199 vsi membership, $168 sunset dues, and had $1400-$1500 left. Your missing out. -Greg

This is the truth about how these scams are run posted by someone (ie: parents) that's been scammed by these people. If this is not enough evidence then you get what you deserve if you do business with them.

You don't GET IT !!!! These people were scammed into getting a credit card and then two employees of that company charged $9500 on that card .... that is a crime .... they are criminals and should be locked up.
YOU ARE A SHILL (my above post just proves it for a fact) !!!!

Another shill .... get a real job, that is if anyone would hire you, which I doubt seriously.

tinak, you need to file a complaint with the Arkansas attorney general .... you can google for contact info and, in most cases, you can file online. It will take something like this to shut these scammers down .... it's already happening in Florida via the FL attorney general.

I agree with Jayjay. These scammers usually work in teams when they come in here. One posts a scam and the other comes into to support the first scammer. It's usually the same person using two different names. If it sounds too good to be true then it isn't true. What company could stay in business paying out more than it takes in ? If you read their posts you end up making money off of something you buy from them. That just doesn't happen in the real world. Read the post from the victims. Why would they be in here telling you their stories unless they want to warn others about these scams. Don't become another victim. Just use common sense and you can avoid being ripped off.

Well, I am neither a hillbilly nor an idiot. Am I really supposed to believe that PRL can rent one week's worth of a dumpy timeshare like Sunset Harbor Resort, pay all fees and dues and commissions and interest, then send me a check for enough money to pay off $9000 and do all that within 9 months time? The bad thing is that if you wait 9 months to see if that happens, the scammers have packed their bags and moved on to another state. If these guys are so legit, then why doesn't either phone number they gave my parents work?
Tina K.
The scammers opened the credit card accounts over the phone & my parents did NOT sign an authorization form. The credit cards have a 19.99% interest rate, not zero! How can anyone believe that you can rent a condo for one week and receive $6400? Lies! Even the nicest condos rent for $2000-$3000, the less nice ones are $800-$900. A dump like Sunset Harbor Resort rents for $378. So, after everyone receives their commission, you'd be lucky to get $100. Lies!

We attended a presentation this evening by reps of the PRL, VSI and Sunset Harbor Resort. What they offered" us is a conversion of the two timeshares we own (one in Hilton Head, SC and one in New Orleans, NO) to the point system. In order to qualify for this conversion, we had to purchase another timeshare at Sunset Harbor Resort which gave us a "bonus" of 100,000 points in addition to cumulative the point value of all the properties. The value of these "points" is more flexibility in vacation planning through VSI, no exchange fees, lower membership fees PLUS PRI will "guarantee" payment of $0.085 per extra point deposited which would cover our maintenance fees on the units. I find this appealing because it would allow us to use our points with VRBO which is how we have been traveling lately. The stated amount that we would receive from giving our existing banked weeks to them more than covers the cost of the deal. If all of what they told us is true, then it would seem to be a good fit for us. BUT, in researching tonight after the presentation, I am getting the sinking feeling that it is NOT true. We have the 3-day rescission clock ticking away so I would appreciate a prompt response. We have been burned a time or two .... I really don't want the stress of another fire. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience -positive or negative with this "deal.". From reading the posts here, it seems that it has worked for some people? And not for others? I can anticipate some of you having a opinion that this is a scam but what will be most helpful are actual experiences. Thanks!
