Hi, thinking of selling my timeshare through them, did you pay an upfront fee and how much was it if you don't mind me asking? And how was there service, did they deliver what they said they would in 90 days or you get your money back for the fee? Really wanting to sell but scared that it could be a scam. Appreciate any information given.
Kind Regards Nita
I would like to know about your experience in dealing with timeshare mls.org. I have received a few phone calls from them since I am looking at selling my timeshare in Branson, MO, and they seem pretty honest, but they want $1000 up front to list the property, is ths the usual route.

The rule of thumb in timesharing is to NEVER pay anyone an upfront fee to sell your timeshare. If they were on the up and up they would take the fee AFTER your timeshare is sold. All they will do is take your $1000 and list your timeshare, no marketing required. You can do that yourself on Redweek for very little money. Don't fall for this scam.

I was reading below on another timeshare site about one of those "I'll relieve you of your unwanted timeshare for $3500" scam companies. These companies are the same company listed under different alias names, so BEWARE:
A couple "bought into" this sceme. They paid $6,000 to relieve themselves of two timeshare weeks ... one was a prime week at a great resort that could easily have been sold for about $5,000.
the other was an off season week at a mediocre resort that these 'scam' guys apparently never disposed of. The resort told the supposedly previous owners that it was still listed in their names and that the 2006 maintenance fees, which were due 6 months after the "transfer" took place, had not been paid. When they tried to contact the company that supposedly "relieved them of the burden," the company had gone out of business. The Better Business Bureau told them that they have numerous similar complaints, and that there are warrants for their arrest.
The couple was also told by their resort that there will be costs involved in obtaining a replacement of the deed they signed over, and no longer possess. They will first have to file a police report in the city where the timeshare is located, which is thousands of miles from their home, and that they will have to obtain a title report to be sure that someone hasn't already registered the ts in another name. The only consession that the resort made was to cancel the penalty for the late payment of the maint. fees.

Hi Sharon:
I have had timeshareMLS calling me wanting to sell my property. But they want some cash upfront, which I don't want to do. How did they help you?
Any info you can give me would be great!
Thanks Brenda

Comment on TimeshareMLS.org... The site advertises that it is the "Official MLS for Timeshares"... There is nothing official about them. Such a claim ought to be taken as a red flag.
Secondly.. their site traffic level is what you get when only the site's owners are visiting the site.
A real estate MLS works with a network of brokers. This site is working on retailing to you.
AND... they've taken pains to hide the identity of the owners of the site in the registration process. Another red flag.
Please view postings like the one above skeptically. There is a lot of self-promotion slipped into these forums and sometimes they will be for scams.

I have week 27 at Beach Quarters in Va. Beach. I love the place, but hate the week. I really wanted week 32 or 33 (3rd week in Aug.) but as someone said, a slick salesman and boom I have week 27. I really love it there, but have been trying to exchange it with no luck. I really don't want to sell it because I can't afford to take a beating...I am trying to sell it for 11,000....does that sound high? I have been researching sites as well and there are TONS of people who will gladly do the "work" for me but at a steep price. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you paid the developer $11000, you will likely get only 1/3 - + to 1/4 - + of that. When searching for resales people are looking for bargains and fair prices, not developer prices.
We owned a developer week at a very popular gold crown resort in Florida. We paid $11000 for the week, which the unit was in a very popular location of the resort, but when we got ready to sell we could get only $2900 which is typical and an average return on a developer bought resale.

I have had very good luck with Redweek.com. I have rented my timeshares through them and even bought through them. I would not, however, use Chicago Title. They were not very responsive and not timely at all.
Redweek.com now has another title company that they advertise on their website. I'd give them a try.
DO NOT under any circumstances pay any upfront fees. This is a scam. Also, try your home resort. They sometimes have a broker that they work with to sell weeks you no longer want. Good luck.

I did spend money upfront however it was well worth it after not using my week for over five years. I wasn't responsible for any closing costs or comissions and the process took aproximately 5 months to complete. Thanks timesharemls.org!!!

I just donated mine to charity. Mine was at Ocean Sands Va Beach 22&Atlantic. Since then I've been trying to find out what they go for for tax deduction purposes and you can see them for sale at this site. Not sure how much it is to list a sale or rental but you could check it out. http://www.MyResortNetwork.com. They show you once they're sold but don't show how much people got for them. Grrrr. Does anyone know where to find that type of info out. I doubt the resort would tell me since they try to sell them for 12k and up.

Hi,
If your unit was deeded, contact the country recorder of deeds for the country where the resort is located. They may even have online access. Look at the consideration put on the resale deeds.

I agree with the majority of the respondents to this query,i.e.,DO NOT PAY UPFRONT FEES! And,you'll realize only a fraction of whatever you paid for the unit, regardless of what means you use to sell it. We own 4 weeks at the Sheraton's Vistana Resort in Lake Buena Vista,FL.A Lock-Off and two 1-Bedroom units. Admittedly,we can only travel two times a year,so usually a week or two has to be disposed of.Sometimes a family member will rent one, or we'll list them on Redweek.com,for whatever the going rate is for a similar unit. We've NEVER "EATEN" a week/maintenance fee yet!As a matter of fact,a small profit can be realized when you give yourself ample time to list/rent it. I'm AMAZED at how many people are simply too lazy or intimidated (by the process) to make the effort to recoup their hard earned $$$$$!It CAN BE DONE! I've actually seen classified ads listing Timeshares for FREE!That is,to me, an act of silly desperation.Second only to paying the maintenance fees for years without trying to sell or rent the week!

To alfredn1 and your criticism of those who are "lazy and or intimidated by the process". I think your comments are rude since you do not know people's situations. Maybe your a timeshare tycoon or connoisseur. If I had known about this site and a couple others I've found lately that may not have been around when I needed them I would have tried to sell instead of donate but I got tired of the sell your timeshare scams which I did not fall for but I paid alot of money in ads and only got 2 calls. I'm done with the timeshare crap and God help anyone who approaches me at the beach to go to a timeshare showing/meeting, whatever. Hope you make many more $$$ in whatever it is you do in your timeshare world.

And,NO,I do not make any significant $$$ in renting my excess weeks.I mean,if I can realize $50-$100 profit above the maintenance fees, that's a GOOD return on my time invested in sorting/corresponding the Email inquiries. To alfredn1 and your criticism of those who are "lazy and or intimidated by the process".
