REDWEEKS NEW TIMESHARE EXHANGE PROGRAM

Have members that have deposited weeks seen their weeks appear available for exchange? Is the price listed the same as RW paid for it?

Hey guys,

We have nothing against TUG but they have their forums and we have ours. There's no need of bringing anything that's going on on TUG's forums over here. What TUG allows on their forums is their business. We don't plan on opening up a Q&A on TUG's forums. Our forums are here for people to ask questions. There's no reason for us to monitor both places. Let's leave what's going on on TUG's forums there.

Thank you, Marty

Yes. I gave Redweek my 3BR Christie Lodge for March '08. Redweek gave me 1800 points.

The deposit took almost two weeks to appear on Redweek's website. It is now listed as available for the same 1800 points.

Marty & Kylie, Keep up the good work. I know you guys are listening, and hopefully, all future adjustments will make things even better. I am looking forward to the Redweek exchange sytem. GOOD LUCK!

I'll go back to TUG now and try to offset some of the naysayers. It's darn near amusing for me to read and respond there.

The problem with the new system is that there is no way for an individual who is looking for a specific week in a specific area to notify owners of units in designated week/area that someone is interested in their resort. For example, I put my two bedroom unit into the new system and got a fair amount of points but am having trouble in locating a resort for the week/area where I want to go. THE SOLUTION WOULD BE TO HAVE A POSTING BOARD (FREE) SO THAT PEOPLE CAN BE NOTIFIED WHEN A RESORT'S TIME/LOCATION IS NEEDED. My weeks are on a floating time and if I knew someone needed a specific week that is the week I would reserve and put into the new point system. As it is now, I just picked a week at random.

Hi Nancy,

We would recommend calling your resort to find out which of the best weeks are available to you, then submitting free valuation requests to see which week would receive the highest RedWeek Exchange Points value. You will have our offers within 24 hours, and can then choose which week to reserve with your resort.

You can also chose to be notified when an exchange is posted for any particular timeshare. Go to any timeshare you are interested in and click on the "Be notified of new postings » " in the upper right corner of the page. You can then chose "exchange".

Thanks, Marty

Marty, Appreciate the information; however, if I knew that someone was looking for a specific week, in my resort, then I could book that week so he would have that specific week. For example, I'm looking for week 15 of 2008 at Vacation Village Bonaventure @ Weston. Someone has posted Wk #13. If they had a choice between Wk13 or Wk15, knowing that someone wanted the latter, then they would have deposited Wk15 and we both would have been happy. NancyJ9

Hi Terry,

We are listening and are working hard to give our members a fantastic exchange program. Sometimes it may take us a little while to get back because this is a new learning curve for all of us but please be patient.

Thanks!

Hi Nancy,

You might try adding "provisional week". When someone submits an exchange valuation, there is now a question on the form that says: "I have this week reserved and would consider depositing if a suitable exchange can be found on RedWeek.com" If the user checks that box, we may list their week as a "provisional exchange week" on the resort page. When someone checks that box on their valuation form, there is no obligation on them to actually deposit. If they notice their week has been listed as a provisional exchange, there's really no reason for them to be concerned. If they don't want to deposit it or make it available, they are not obligated to.

You might try this and see if you receive any you receive any interest. I know this doesn't completely answer your question but it's another option that we have added to help make some exchange matches.

Thanks, Marty

{jayjay}

There are some Tug members that have already started bashing Redweek's exchange system even though it's barly off the ground and still in it's infancy.

I was impressed to see all the deposits that have already been made into the Redweek exchange system with it being so new. The best is yet to come and I give kudos in starting this new revolutionary exchange venture. ===================================================

{PHILL12} First thing is jayjay you are impressed with everything Redweek does and you tell everyone.

You don't even own a timeshare so your not even going to be more than a mouth piece for Redweek about this exchange.

Second you seem to always state its Tug member doing or saying something about Redweek you don't like. I would guess this is because Tug ban you from their site for good! You never say its Craigslist or TripAdvisor members.

If you were as smart as you try and make everyone believe you would understand that many of these Tug members are also Redweek members.

Anytime someone that happens to be a Tug member says anything you need to point out the fact there a Tug member like that is a insult or something.

For someone that was kicked off and hates Tug and it's members you sure spend alot of time on the Tug site and read everything on that site and run back here and post your opinion on the statements to make it sound like someone is slamming Redweek.

You start this crap and then responses get deleted by your buddies (Redweek) on here.

There are very good people on other sites and I would take many of the idea's and opinions over yours anyday. Many of these people are also on Redweek but just don't jump on every post.

Also these people weather Tug or Redweek or just guest want to see this work and want to see it get off on the right foot to work. Most of these people have a reason for wanting this to work like their owners of a timeshare!

This is something you have no part or say in because you are not a timeshare owner so you can not even help the new exchange by making a deposit so maybe you should just back off others about this!

Gentlemen! Ladies! (Whatever!) Please return to discussing Timeshare Exchanges and drop the character assassination. That is what killed a lot of other formerly nice sites.

I wanted to know if I deposit will other members get my unit or will it be shipped to Dae but this seems to be question and topic you want no part of!

Hi Phil,

I apologize for the delay in responding to your question. I needed to get clarification first on how this is handled.

Not ALL inventory is shared with DAE. We have our own internal business rules on what is shared and when. In most cases, RedWeek member deposits will be available to RedWeek members for exchanging.

It is an industry practice that timeshare exchanges work trades between themselves to better satisfy their members. Imbalances between deposits available and requested exchanges are very common. We have a formal, and more automated means of sharing inventory with DAE. There has been a great deal of design work done to ensure that members of the two exchange companies are both benefiting from these trades. You won't find identical inventory offerings though there will be similarities. This is especially true in this early stage while RedWeek acquires its own inventory.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Marty

Still waiting to see how Redweek can have resort listed for more than double and triple the asking rental price.

You list resort at 2250 points = $2250 .00 and its listed on Redweek rental site for $700-$1000 for a week.

This in no way is a fair value!

updated 1/5/08

Lets say someone has 1125 points and wants to exchange into this unit you list for 2250 points. Now the member gives up their unit and pays another $1125.00 to make this exchange. They could have kept their unit and rented the same resort and season off Redweek rental for $700-$1000 for the week and still have their own unit to use.

Again how is this fair pricing?

Marty ,Thanks for finally giving me a answer! I would not want to give Redweek my week just to see other members on here have no chance of using it!

This also works in other direction that I would want to see fair exchange for my family's use! Thank You, PHIL

Phil, I deposited my week and it is currently available. Christie Lodge 3BR 3BA - March.

RE: Provisional Week Queries Kylie/Marty: What exactly happens when I see a PROVISIONAL Week I want and click on "Notify Me"? Does that send a message to you or to the Postee of that week? Your latest newsletter stated "these weeks are not yet available inventory, but will be deposited by their owners ...... and we will let you know when they are available". Approx how long does that take? -OwenH-

Sorry if this has been asked before, but as far as exchange valuation (i.e. Points) goes, does a VIEW category (Ocean Front vs Ocean View vs Garden View) count for more/less? Also, does a listing over the 4th of July or Xmas or any Holiday carry more weight than say the middle week of September? -OwenH- P.S. It would be nice if you combined the 6 html pages on Exchange Instructions in one detailed PDF. And a REALLY nice idea would be sifting thru 5 pages of this forum topic (plus others) and create an FAQ <g>

Hi Everyone,

With other exchange companies, you're allowed to put a 24 hr. hold on the week. This feature gives you time to discuss this with your family. If the week won't work, you can release the week, which will go back into the system.

So, my question to you is... Will RW be adding a "Hold" feature soon? This is not an issue now, but once RW kicks off, it would be nice to have this feature.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Owen,

You can click on the link to be notified when the week becomes available but if and when it becomes available is up to the owner. If it does become available you will then receive an email notifing you. How long that will take, we really don't know.

Thanks, Marty

Currently, we don't have a way to valuate weeks differently because of the view but the time of year could definitely make a difference in the point valuation including holidays.

Neither RCI nor II take into consideration what view a timeshare unit has in a resort as far as exchanges go. You may luck up and get a great view or you may get a lousy view ..... it's a crapshoot. Actually, RCI nor II don't have a clue as to what a depositor's view is, all they know is that a week in a resort has been deposited. They mainly focus on the number of bedrooms and other criteria.

We actually do have a 24 hour hold feature set up... but only when one does a reservation at the same time they do the deposit. When you get your offer, we show you that you can deposit now & exchange later. Or, the most recent exchange weeks you have looked at will appear in an "Exchange now for..." list. If you choose a week to exchange for at that point, it will be put on a 24 hour hold to allow you to finalize your deposit, and then finalize the reservation. We will keep a broader 24 hour hold feature in mind for future developments.

Thanks, Marty

==========

Some resorts and chains do not assign a specific unit with your reservation at all, so the view is unpredictable. (They reserve a size & type of unit.) Some "charge" more points (or whatever) for a special view, though they may not specify the unit. Personally, I think Ocean Front units are overrated. At night, it is just BLACK out there! Ocean View units (in Fairfield/Wyndham speak at least) are not directly facing the ocean but you can see it from an angle. Or maybe from the balcony. Cities look pretty great at night. MD

Oh, but the ocean/beach/gulfront views during the day are absolutely wonderful !!!

We owned an oceanfront timeshare in Daytona Beach Shores (along with 2 gulfront timeshares in Panama City Beach) and it was lots of fun to sit on our balcony in the mornings drinking our coffee watching the vehicles drive by on Daytona Beach (it's a drive-on beach) and to just people watch on our balcony at Panama City Beach. That was our greatest joy in the mornings and late afternoons and was so relaxing

You are right that the ocean/gulf is black at night, but many times we would see freighters and fishing boat lights crossing the horizon and the sunsets were to die for.
