What keeps you from using Redweek Exchange?
marty, thanks for the detailed posting.
You mention that the DAE alliance has provided a lot of inventory for the Redweek exchange program.
Does this DAE inventory go through the same point evaluation procsess, prior to deposit, the same as if an individual member had submitted the week?
I'm curious if DAE inventory is getting preferential treatment (larger point values) than individual members.

DAE inventory goes through the same valuation process and calculations as Redweek inventory. There is absolutely no bias in the valuations. As the DAE program does not use points, there would be no advantage or disadvantage on the points. DAE works only on a one week equals one week. We at Redweek value them to ensure our Redweek members get fair value for the weeks.

What will keep me from using Redweek is when owners post a listing and never respond back or after they post the listing and receive request they change their mind and keep the property.
What will keep me coming back to Redweek is the awesome owners who have great follow up and are very professional and helpful. Looking forward to doing more business with you.

No disrespect intended, but you seem to be addressing an entirely different topic (i.e., sale and / or rental listings advertised on the RedWeek site by individual owners).
The topic of THIS particular thread, however, is not sale or rental listings, but is instead the subject of EXCHANGES, in which depositing owners relinquish their week(s) directly to RedWeek and, once having done so, are basically thereafter completely removed from the process, which is then conducted soley between RedWeek and the prospective exchanger.
So, moving back to the actual topic of this particular thread, i.e. RedWeek exchanges, I like the RedWeek / DAE exchange model in concept, but I personally believe that there are still some significant "growing pains" exhibited in the questionable accuracy of the RedWeek "valuations" of submitted deposits. Some are too high, others way too low (in my opinion, anyhow). Once these "valuations" become more accurate (and more consistent) and the confidence level and available inventory both grow a bit more, I think the RedWeek model can become a very good exchange system indeed.

I deposited my week in aruba and did get a good amount of points. I am pretty sure that I will loose them as there is never anything available where I need to go. Things may rent more that exchange. I would really just like to talk to person to get help. Help. Kim

RedWeek deposits are good for 3 years. This is actually the LONGEST time period available in the entire exchange world for deposits, compared to other exchange companies, where other maximums (as far as I know, anyhow) are only 2 years.
Since the entire RedWeek exchange program is only about 2 years old in the first place, why do you prematurely conclude that there is "never anything available" where you "need" (...i.e., WANT) to go?
Finally, keep in mind that if you have a specific time and place in mind, that particular time and place (...if it's a very popular one) may never get deposited (on RedWeek or anywhere else) for you (or anyone else) to "exchange" into. You simply can't get what "ain't there" to begin with, just because you feel that you "need" it. For a highly desirable location / date week, many owners will instead choose to rent it out directly for cash, rather than deal with the uncertainties of exchanging (on RedWeek or anywhere else).
Nonetheless, I wish you luck ---- and patience....

Good points above ken .... in the world of timeshare exchanges flexibility is the key, ridigity is not no matter what exchange company you deposit your week with.

I don't quite understand how this Plaza Suite Hotel Resort exchange listing can be second on the list of "New Exchanges" and discounted 36% already? And this is not the only "New Exchange" that appears to be instantly discounted......can someone explain?

Actually, I am trying to go to places like cape in off season and still can't find anything. My points are expiring in like 6 mo or so. I have now pushed air travel until next march and am looking for somewhere the 14th or so. If you have any pointers please let me know. Thanks, Kim

The best exchanges are those where an owner deposits their week at least a year in advance and starts a search or an ongoing search. The earlier you deposit and start your search, the more choices you will get.

My guess is the RedWeek point value of an off season Cape Cod week is so low that owners may not want to deposit their week into the system. When we can go there is not anything available. This will be out 3rd time scheduling to go. Kim
While it's too late now, but next time you might want to rent out your Aruba week, then just rent an off-season Cap Cod week. You can probably get a 2 BR from RCI or II for less than $400 per week.

I am kept from using Redweed Exchange program because we own at a five star resort but are not given five star points for an exchange. This means that if I accepted the exchange offer, I would have to trade down in terms of property and time of year. I noticed some three star timeshares exchanging for more than what they were willing to give me for my five star resort. The exchange wouldn't be even.

Actually, exchanging has nothing to do with how your resort is rated, what it has to do with is how far in advance you deposit your week and the supply and demand of the week you deposited.

Not only do we utilize the Exchange feature of Redweek (as well as their other timeshare services - purchase and rental), but we also tout it to acquaintances, and of course to sales staff while at a timeshare presentation.
In our opinion, this program has the potential to be the best in the industry. It provides the necessary abstraction from private 1-for-1 exchanges (such as Timex), and yet avoids the unfair dealings (hidden/restricted inventory, deceptive valuation practices, and stressful dealings with Customer dis-Service) associated with Interval International.
We normally deposit two Orlando prime weeks (Week 51/52, and July/August) as soon as our resort allows us to reserve the weeks, which is normally during December of the prior year of use. We've been somewhat inquisitive as to how long they last as available for exchange, and they are typically booked within a couple of weeks from posting.
However, this year has given us some pause for concern on two fronts: 1) Redweek's valuation estimation for one of our weeks returned much lower than expected 2) Redweek's rapidly diminishing inventory of interesting places to visit during peak periods.
We're seeking redress privately with Redweek in re to their meager point valuation, and can only hope that the tentative Redweek community will realize their comfort level and share their resort weeks.

The inventory has just not improved even after 2 yrs of existence - not as many to choose from - the fee is cheaper alright but my deposit is about to expire in June and will prob forfeit it rather than pay the exchange fee for a vacation not really wanted. Provisional cat never seem to materialize.

Plaza Suite Hotel Resort New Orleans, Louisiana Week 8 Feb 19, 2010 - Feb 26, 2010
====== Judging by the date of the week offered, James and the fact that you say it is "new", this was a very late deposit. There is simply no time to start at a reasonable point level and go down later if necessary. It is necessary NOW or no one will have time to make arrangements to use it. MD
