The people that stated that the scam operation worked for them are shills (employees) for that company (fool me once it's your fault .... fool me twice it's my fault). If it sounds too good to be true then 99.9% it is a scam.

We have the 3-day rescission clock ticking away so I would appreciate a prompt response. We have been burned a time or two .... I really don't want the stress of another fire. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience -positive or negative with this "deal.". From reading the posts here, it seems that it has worked for some people? And not for others? I can anticipate some of you having a opinion that this is a scam but what will be most helpful are actual experiences. Thanks!
Rescind immediately ..... it's a scam.

Susanc924, rescind. My parents jut got hit with this same scam & are trying to get out of paying $9500 these PRL guys put on their credit card!!!! The people on this forum that are posting positive feedback actually work for PRL and Sunset Harbor evidently. Did you read my post? Sunset Harbor is a dump! Their customer satisfaction rating is 2.1 out of 5. My parents' condo in N.O. is 4.8/5. The PRL guys told my parents the Sunset Harbor condo was comparable & one year's worth of their points (one week?) would pay off the $9500. I looked up Sunset Harbor on RCI.com & found that it rents for $378/week. It's a scam!!!!!!

Unfortunately these forums are full of scam artists trying to sell snake oil. Who in their right mind would believe that they pay out more than they take in. If it sounds too good to be true than it's not true. I'm getting so sick and tired of people coming in here and complaining after they've been ripped off. We have nothing to gain by warning people to avoid the scams. The scammers come in here posing as satisfied customers and then another one comes in to back up the first one. It's the same story over and over again. Please listen to Tina and be warned. It's unfortunate that her parents got ripped off but at least she can help someone else from suffering the same fate.

Susan, did you read my long post about what happened to my parents? I don't know how to work this forum very well, but if you search "point rental liquidators" or "sunset harbor resort" my post from a couple days ago should show up. I was wondering if these were the same guys that hit y'all. My parents also own in N.O. The meeting was held at Ryan's in Hammond. The "salesmen" (& that's putting it nicely!) were Hughes Dewailly & Pat Thompson. Was it the same guys?

Thanks for sharing that experience. If you have the opportunity to rescind, that likely means that you had to pay money upfront. And one major no-no in dealing with companies like this is to not pay anyone a large, upfront fee to sell, rent our, market, or "cancel" your timeshare.
This operation sounds like you have to pay an upfront fee to rent out your timeshare, or, in this case, your points.

I did read the post. I do not recall one name but the other is Neil Young. I 'm just grateful that my alarm bells went off in time. They did make a pretty persuasive presentation. When Mr. Young called yesterday morning, I told him that we were having serious second thoughts and that I was calling ARDA. He said that, yes, that complaint referenced one guy who was a "bad apple" (Cooke) and was no longer with the company. However Cooke is still listed as "manager" for the company. Mr. Young did not call back.

I can only imagine why Mr Young didn't call back .... he was caught red handed with his hand in the cookie jar = lying.

Susan, I'm glad you got out of it in time. We're waiting to see their response to my parents' lawyer's letter. We got a response letter from the La. Attorney General saying they would be contacting Sunset Harbor Resort. Also,RCI said if they get a lot of complaints, they will warn SHR about being dropped from RCI's program.

I am responding to a testimonial about PRL on the internet. I attended an RCI Update recently and learned about PRL. This testimonial mentioned BJ. Is BJ a parf of PRL? Do you know if RCI endorses this company? What upfront fee did you pay, and was it negotiated?

I wanted to update on my experience with PRL et al. I had message from both my original salesperson and a person identifying himself as BJ Cooke this past Saturday stating that they had received my faxed letter of rescission and regretted we would not be doing business. Them I actually spoke to Mr. Cooke who called me on my mobile phone. He was very conciliatory and apologetic about how the unfortunate impression was created and invited us to consider experiencing a years free membership with no upfront purchase so we could discover for ourselves that this was a good program. I told him that we would consider that and asked him to call back Monday (as we were on the road) to discuss it fiurther. I still find the inclusion of VRBO a plus for us and, with no up-front payment, I would consider it. And I would report our experiences here as I think that only fair. I am still "waiting" for his "Monday call.". What puzzles me is why he would go to the trouble of making the call and attempt to "woo" us with a no risk offer and then ....fail to call.

PRL is not affiliated in any way, shape or form with RCI. Call RCI and ask them. Look up Point Rental Liquidators on the Better Business Bureau Nevada website. If Sunset Harbor Resort in Texas is the resort PRL's trying to sell you, look them up on the BBB Texas website. They both have F ratings and unresolved complaints. Contact Texas and Nevada Attorney Generals and check them out also. Sunset Harbor Resorts Regional office is based in Las Vegas, so check both NV & TX AG's. Go to Scambook.com and search Point Rental Liquidators & Sunset Harbor Resorts. You will find many entries besides these on Redweek.com. If you're still tempted to do business with these liars, go to RCI.com and read the customer satisfaction reviews on Sunset Harbor Resort and see if you'd really like to "own" there and if you really think they can rent your points there and make enough money to pay PRL's commision and all your fees, dues, etc. RCI will rent it for $378/week, so I don't think you'll be getting much money. I've read so many posts about these 2 companies in the last 2 weeks, I can't believe they haven't been put in jail or at least put out of business.

If you are still tempted to do business with these liars, I would NOT sign ANY papers until you have your lawyer verify everything first. The papers my parents signed did NOT say what my parents were told verbally and some of the wording was very vague and confusing.

You can't rent something you don't own at VRBO (Vacation Rentals by OWNER) .... that's why he failed to call. You need to report this scam to VRBO.
