Is TUG Helpful?

Without googling it, I suspect no one here knows who is considered the "Father of Timeshare" in the US, who developed the concept, figured out how to market it, and willingly shared that with other developers wanting to do the same thing. $50,000,000 in annual sales in the 70's was phenomenal.

It wasn't Kemmons Wilson or David Siegel.

Tuggbbs is very helpful for many topics. Room codes for different resorts for one. Lots of direct info.... lots of opinions.... stick with the direct info.

With TUG, you get alot of bordererline illegal information regarding getting rid of your timeshare. Many, including the owner, advocate walking away without sharing the consiquences of doing it. To top it off, they will argue their point without facts. They all seem to forget that they signed a contract.

Just because the owner is a veteran, does not make the information legit. I did use Redweek to sell my unwanted timeshare, but cancelled my for sale post once the resort agreed to a deed back

I wouldn't consider the information that a lot of posters on TUG give as illegal. Is there such information as "borderline illegal"? You might think that some posters on TUG are advising timeshare owners to do something that is "borderline illegal", but the information in not illegal.

Secondly, the advice that is usually given is to first try to sell. If that doesn't work, then try giving it away. If that doesn't work, try asking the resort's Homeowners' Association to take the unit back. If all these efforts fail, then finally just walk away.

Thirdly, just walking away and letting the unit go into default and foreclosure is not illegal. Many might say it's unethical because they signed a contract but it is not illegal or "borderline illegal".
