I received an e-mail tonight from Vacation Home Only and they have agreed to refund to me the difference in cost between an Ocean Front and an Island view rental. Thanks for the update Trent .... that's one of the positive sides of these forums, however VHO should never promise someone in the future a type of unit (ocean front, ocean view, garden view, island view, etc) that they haven't secured via a contract .... in the business world that's called bait and switch.
I agree. They said in their letter to me that it was a loophole with Westin since early on I had asked them to move the reservation forward by one day, but that explanation does not make sense because the reservation was never changed and since that discussion was all the way back in August of 2011. While I am glad that I am getting a refund, I would hope that they change the way they do things for others in the future. Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I'm fairly new to the rental process and have never used an escrow before. Would you be able to give me a general idea how this works?

I had a bad experience with Preston. He is a fast talker and talks about not wasting your time but that is exactly what he did with me. He also wants to charge your credit card up front before you get a confirmation that he can get you the place... a little backwards if you ask me. Especially since he kept saying you understand this is non-refundable... BEWARE! Stay away from this company! Try Vacation Candy instead they are great and do not waste your time and only charge your credit card once the confirmation is in place.

I told a few friends about Redweek and they joined but they both complained to me about Preston Green. I told my friends "Travelers come to RedWeek.com to rent or buy timeshare units directly from owners, often at tremendous savings compared with hotels or dealing with the resort itself. No middleman, and no tours. Ever. ". They were all excited because of his add "Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Lahaina Villas, Lahaina, Hawaii, United States, North America Price: $2,495 ($356 per night)".
All the dates he had were dramatically higher in price and they complained to me that I said "there were no middlemen". I just told them to go directly to the owners and not him and you should get a better deal.. Hopefully he is a anomaly here at REDWEEK.

Regretfully, I think there are many middlemen that use Redweek for their rentals .... as far as I know it's not against Redweek's policy (since many people have no idea that Redweek exists), but you are indeed correct that people would be better off just to come to Redweek and look for rentals themselves leaving out any middleman.

Vacation Homes Only who Preston Green works for is the organization you are looking for.
They never charge you a dime; no advertising fees, or commissions. As an Owner you are paid before you add the guests name to the reservation. That is why Vacation Homes Only has been around so long and have stood the test of time.
Not one owner can say anything went wrong doing business with Vacation Homes Only, period.
All there is in this forum section are confirmed success stories with Vacation Homes Only, and some irrelevant is anti-business chatter, and speculative opinions form people whom have never done business with us.
Context is everything.

We thank him for telling how we stood by him, corrected the situation, and made him whole. We take care of our customers.
This reservation view issue arose as a result of the owner not making their OV ownership reservation prior to 8 months to check. Westin reserves the right, but does not have to exercise the right to assign this owner unit to a lower level or garden view. It was not a bait and switch. It was a loophole in their reservation rules. Get your facts straight before you make slanderous accusations. We will pursue you legally until you have the accusation removed from this forum. You will here from our Internet Libel attorneys very soon if it is not removed. VHO

Regarding All of the Negative Forum Posting anti business spin from "Jay Jay"
Again, people making unfounded insinuations/accusations and "Jay Jay" who still has the time to add here negative spin. Notice here comments always take the worst possible interpretation. "A vacation rental agent must be bad". Simply put that is prejudice. Our posting clearly states that $2395 is our "generic starting price and that high season holiday weeks can cost more". View can effect the prices drastically as well.
We just rented a 2bedroom 3bathroom unit at the Marriott Maui for only $1695 so these deals and better deals are given out by Preston Green and Vacation Homes Only all the time.
Get your facts straight before you try to destroy descent people and businesses. Mostly you hurt the consumers and owners (RedWeek.com Customers) whom we can and do help.

Owners, beware of these kind of Renters.
This is the kind of guy who says they want the unit, the checks in the mail, and then keeps on shopping to nickel and dime the next owner. You know the type. Then never gives you a courtesy call back to let you know he went with another owner to save $10. We require a non-refundable deposit so people like this person do not jerk our owners around and keep on shopping.
Timeshare owners usually own one week a year and cannot afford to take their unit off of the market; and turn away other renters on a maybe. They need solid commitment. And that's what we bring our owners to the table. A solid deal.
Likewise we have our owners' sign a non-cancelable agreement so they cannot change their mind on travelers who may have booked 8 non-refundable airline tickets for their family. We protect all who are a part of the transactions.
This guy did not want to make a solid commitment. Another rookie vacation renter that simply did not understand our process. We don't get the units after we close the deals, we have them.

Vacation Homes Only and Preston Green essentially escrow the rental absolutely free.
Renter Pays VHO and VHO pays renter once unit has been verified with resort and it is under a non-cancelable contract.
It is not brain surgery and it should not cost $200. Owners should not have to wait until 1 week after the guest checks out. Our owners are often paid at least 50% a year before check in and the balance due before check-in.
The escrow service is recommended if you have to send "Joe Blow" a check. Our vacation home rental company free facilitation eliminates the need for a $200 extra expense for escrow.
With Vacation Homes Only, you can use Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover and PayPal to pay for your rental.
Take the family out to a nice dinner while on vacation instead.

Vacation Homes Only & Preston Green:
That is just unfortunate that you turned down a bonfide rental from a reputable company and their money is green.
You did not listen to the simple process of signing the rental agreements, you get paid, and you set up the guest pass once you receive your cleared payment. That simple.
Consider that maybe you shot your self in the foot and lost an easy rental.
We only contact owners if we have a solid request for your week.
Unfortunately, some people just make things so difficult for themselves.
Owners, don't make the same bad business decision. Share your rental property availability with Vacation Homes Only, we never charge you a dime.

Vacation Homes Only and Preston Green (Beverly Hills, CA) have nothing to do with Americap International Corp (Florida) or any of its principals, Chris Wood or his brother. They have been banned from the site.
This has been validated and investigated by RedWeek.com

Jayjay has not bad mouthed your business model ..... look at what I posted below a few days days ago concerning middle men using Redweek for their rentals. If Redweek has no problem with middlemen using them, then I have no problem.
