Hi Marty, I was posted on Red Week wish list #W27960 on June 26, 2007wanting the first 2 weeks of Feburary in Cabo, Mexico at the Pueblo Bonito Rose. I was emailed by Americap International gateway@linkpt.net on June 27, 2007 from Jerry Wood jerry@americapint.com. He saw my ad on Red Week and emailed me saying he had several weeks for rent. It also gave their phone # of 888-834-7464 or email at customerservice@americapint.com. I thought this was all through Red Week, so I sent him $1500.00 and received a rental agreement which I received on 6/27/07. Contract #239150. Since then they haven't sent me a confirmation that I received these 2 week. I have made numerous phone calls to no avail. Would you please check into this for me? Thank you, Alvin Gatzemeier Since then

Hi Alvin,

I was searching for a John Taylor so that's why I wasn't able to find it at first. Now, I see what the situation is. Unfortunately, there isn't any more we can do as you can see from all the other postings here. This person's membership has been removed from RedWeek.com as of August 2007. Unless, they purchase another membership under a different account they can no longer contact anyone and scam anyone else. We always highly recommend that anyone renting or buying/selling through RedWeek.com use an escrow service to handle the money and this prevents anything like this from happening. This type of situation doesn't happen very often on our website but unfortunately there are crooks out there that take advantage of people.

Marty

Alvin, If you paid for this with a credit card, you will be able to file a billing dispute to get your money back. You can contact your company to find out what kind of documentation you will need to file the dispute. If you paid with a check, you can try to stop payment but it may be too late.

lisam500 states, quoted only in pertinent part: >> Alvin, If you paid for this with a credit card, you will be able to file a billing dispute to get your money back.<< ===================================

Different credit card issuers have very slightly varying policies regarding the time deadline for filing a billing dispute, but I am personally unaware of any time period which is any longer than 90 days, with 60 days generally being the "norm". There is, of course, no harm in trying, but I wouldn't be too optimistic for a transaction which took place several months ago (and this particular transaction appears to have occurred back in late June -- nearly four months ago now).

Hi Gang, I have been trying to get my money back $720 actually since June 2007. Americap does not return any of my calls. Stay Away. Terry

About all we can do is suspend the membership until these issues have been corrected. I've called Chris Wood several times and have emailed him. Our hope is that the company is very much legitimate and there are many that have had successful transactions with Americap International Corp. but that we are only seeing a few of the complaints which basically happen in any business.

As far as the search feature, I know that's in development but will check on the status.

BTW I'm a she not a he. :-)

Hey Marty - First I'd like to thank you for all the support with Redweek.

Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for my confirmation with them. I got a contract from Americap only after you called them - it arrived the last week of July. I returned it and confirmed with Chris that he had it. He said he would send it on to the seller, who would send me a gift certificate and I should see it in two weeks. I haven't seen anything yet, and I email Chris weekly. Chris had told me once that his typical transactions take 60 days and that most people don't mind because their travel plans were far in advance. I reminded him that he had our money right off the bat and we couldn't confirm that he was legitimate until we had confirmed the gift certificate with the resort.

As an FYI, the Better Business Bureau shows them as being in business since February, which either means they are a brand new company and therefore possibly inefficient, or they were a company prior and just switched over in February (a common thing for bad companies). I called the number on the BBB, which brought me to Jerry's home number (Chris's brother and president). He was surprised I had his home number - something that may come in handy if anyone feels like calling Jerry at home!

Please don't reinstate Americap until I get my gift certificate. I would also suggest that you not reinstate them until Mike and anyone else have their gift certificate, since it doesn't appear Americap has actually done any services without you prompting them to date. Perhaps you could suggest to Americap that they can only come back on Redweek if they agree to use escrow prior to getting the money since it would relieve you of having to chase them for every transaction?

thanks again for your help - LIsa

Can you please send me Jerry's home number as I'm having problems with Chris Wood. Thank you.

Jerry's home phone has long been disconnected. Keep in mind these forums are accessible to anyone, not just people who log in, so the Woods have access to anything written here. Please see the end of the "buying, renting and selling timeshares" forum on Americap for options to get your money back.

I too was too trusting and sent money in after getting the contract, but never got the RCI week promised. It's been 3 months of excuses and avoiding phone calls on their end.

I managed to get ahold of Jerry Wood, who claims he sold his interst in the company in 2001 (to his brother Chris Wood) and has had a heart attack and can't work. Jerry said his brother used to live on Taylor st in Hollywood FL but didn't know if he still did and of course didn't know the house #.

The more I talk with the Woods, the more they seem like slick con artists. I don't believe anything they say. Too bad I went through this, but hope others can stay away.

To all of you, please see my thread titled "Getting the FBI Involved If You Have Been Scammed". Lisam was successful in getting them involved. Take the same action ... don't let these scums get away with their thievery. You HAVE to be a consumer activist or these people will merely set up shop under a different name and continue their scam.

The FBI already knows who the brother is as it's posted in a thread above. It shouldn't be hard to locate the others involved in this scam, including Chris Wood, but you MUST first file a complaint with the agencies listed in that thread.

Hello everyone: I have also sent a letter to the Attorney General of Florida and and also to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. These scum bags must be stopped. I just filed a billing dispute with my credit card company about 1 week ago. Even if I get my money back I will not stop until these SOB'S are stopped. My husband and I have always been hard working people and these scums try to make an easy living out of scamming hard working honest people. Trust me I will not stop until the whole bunch are caught and punished for there crooked dealings. It is imperative that everyone gets a hold of the Attorney General of Florida and also report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center so they can investigate these scams. Jane

Hello Terry: Here is the web page for the Florida Attorney General:

http://myfloridalegal.com/contact.nsf/contact?Open&Section=Attorney_General

The web site for the Internet Crime Report Center is: http://www.ic3.gov.

I hope everyone who has been scammed by these SOB's (Americap International) will get in touch with the Attorney General & the Internet Crime Report Center to have them put out of business. The more people that complain about their scams, the faster they will be gone. Jane

Hi All

Saw recent messages concerning Americap International. Rented a timeshare through them for Christmas week. Did get a contract back with signature etc. However have had questions and haven't gotten them to call back. Worked with Chris Wood and signed by John Taylor. Called the resort to check on a few things and they say that they have no reservation for us. The contract number is Americap, not the resort. We don't have the name of the owners of the timeshare. Have emailed and called with no response form Chris or the company. Any thoughts on where to go from here? Seems that the previous answers on this forum came from "Marty". Help!!!!

If you didn't pay by credit card you might as well say good-bye to your money. We paid by credit card and disputed it and we are suppose to get it back by the end of the week. Ours was for 2 weeks and $2,000. Write to the Attorney General and the Internet Crime Report Center. You can find the web page near the top of this page. These people still haven't stopped scamming people. Good Luck. Jane
