Hyatt Hacienda Del Mar

Hacienda del Mar

Feb 13, 2020

This report on the conditions at Hyatt Hacienda del Mar is totally out of date. and or the poster is confused about just which property is the club and which two other properties are the former Hyatt hotels. One of which, The Hyatt Dorado Beach, was tore down and a new hotel and residences was built and is now the 6 Star Ritz Carlton - Dorado Beach)

But in any case prior to 2017 the club property was in good shape, wonderful beach and a small Bodega resturant at the pool.

Then the two Hurricanes hit in 2017 and as a result the Hyatt Residence Club Towers are now being completely restored, remodeled and refurnished.

The Residence club is slated to be reopened in June of 2020.

I'm looking forward to my reserved stay for all of October 2020 at the "New" Hacienda Del Mar, Dorado Puerto Rico

Have we been there since the casino closed? Yes, Nov 23-Dec 1 and wish we hadn't.

In our opinion "welcome to HYATT JAILHOUSE VACATION CLUB". Stay away!

Hyatt took away everything, ie restaurants, stores, trolley, Casino, Dorado Hotel - closed. Can't buy breakfast anywhere on the premises, nor snacks after dark. You are left with 4 walls and a very large fence.

The following statement may sound far-fetched - remember the ENRON scandal? This may be known as the HYATT scandal!

To all potential Hyatt Vacation Club timeshare purchasers worldwide beware, beware, beware

Hyatt Hacienda Del Mar Management, continue to lie and push the opening date it won’t be until Feb 2021.

This year the raised the annual fee to $3,468.92 (I wish this was a typo but it is not). I called the GM Alex Botana to discuss the proposed annual fee increasing to just $2,430 and Alex did not correct me and state the fee would exactly be $3,468.92, over $1000.00 higher for a place that has been shut down since Sep 2017. The largest contributor is $1000.00 per unit to pay for bad debt. I asked for the points of the bad debt and was essentially laughed at. Alex is worse than a used car salesmen and Hyatt is worse than Enron. BTW it took the Ritz less than 12 months to reopen after the Hurricanes, they have true managers working on the property, Hyatt does not. They also have a 39% management fee from 2020 to 2021. The biggest kicker is they paid for house keeping, pool maintenance, cable, activities, and a front office staff for a place that has not opened since 2017, seriously! What a joke!

Stay away from this place, this place is ran like a mob and they treat owners like scum.
