Newbie Might Starwood - II getway examples - please!

Apr 07, 2007

Can anyone who is a current II member give me some examples of what sorts of getways are appearing right now that would possibly be within a 4 -5 hour drive of Seattle? I'm trying to figure out if this getaway thing is all they pretend it is before I leap into ownership!

thanks!

I just checked and found nothing close. Most to be east coast. Found one in Palm Springs area and last week there were some in Arizona. Many are studio's but you can get good deal at times on one and two bedroom units!

We have been thinking of Williamsburg or Branson. Not sure if I'm reading you right that you are interested in the Getaway Program and this will make your discision weather to buy a timeshare!

I would say this is not good reason to take on a timeshare if your doing it just because of the getaways!

We're debating between 2 timeshare concepts/companies - that's why we're curious about the getaways with II. We live in Seattle, but love to visit Palm Springs, AZ, etc once a year. We were hoping to hook into a "plan" that would get us the sun we need in the springtime, while still being able to take a few 3 - 4 day road trips at other times in the year. (Yeah - you have to book a whole week for a getaway, but if you get a good deal, who cares if you leave the unit before your time is up?) The timeshare Co. that has offerings near us would fit this "mini-tripping" fabulously, but the condos in their family aren't very "upscale" (who assigns those stars in the books, anyway???) At this point we really don't want to own 2 weeks, 2 maint. fees, etc. Maybe someday, but not now. Anyone have any advice?

I agree with Phil that I would not buy into timeshares just for the getaways as the inventory changes all the time and there is no guarantee that you could get anything you desire.
