Orange Lake Country Club
The newest village is the East Village where River Island waterpark is located. This is a huge meandering waterpark with a lazy river running throughout that you can float with innertubes (provided by the resort for a small fee) and many other water related features.
The second newest is the North Village where a smaller waterpark is located called Splash Lagoon. These units are four-plexes and are two story with 2 and 3 bedrooms. The North Village also has a restaurant onsite. The North Village units are very nice, but if you are on the second floor you do have to climb steps.
The West Village is the oldest village but units are kept up to date (although the duplexes don't have jacuzzi tubs as the other villages have) and most of the units are ground floor duplexes with parking right at your front door and a front and back lawn (except for the multi-storied building next to the clubhouse/check-in). The West Village also houses the clubhouse where there's an olympic size swimming pool, game room, theatre, restaurant, mini-store and the minature golf park is close by.
They provide a shuttle from one village to another as the resort is so large.
It just depends on what features you're looking for in a resort as to what village you would prefer.

FYI...the East Village and River Island are really separate "villages" at Orange Lake.
The East Village is all high rises. There are two smaller pools and a health club, but no other amenities. You need to go to River Island or the West Village Clubhouse for the big pools, restaurants, arcades, stores etc. And the North Village also has a nice pool, cafe and arcade but the other villages have more amenities.
River Island is the newest section. It consists of two big high rises right near the pool complex (slides, beach entry pools, hot tubs, lazy river, cabanas massages bar etc.) It is the most convenient for room-to-pool access.
The West Village is the oldest section, but they recently reconstructed the pool complex, so it is now the newest pool.

Orange Lake is famous for golf all over Florida. I have stayed there for 5 nights and 4 days last year. There are two large sized pools and Jacuzzi tubs available there. I really enjoyed my stay there.
