Weston Resort Village in Florida
A good friend of mine just bought into the timeshare at Weston. My friend really is looking to trade alot and the big activity that Weston said would make that very easy is they are the only ones in that area with an 18 hole golf course. Is this true? Also, any informtion on Weston's timeshares would be of GREAT help to my friend. He bought in at Minzer. Thanks so much!!!

If he bought a 2 BR in a prime week (i.e. summer or July) then he should enough points for a variety of trading opportunities. If he is willing to stay in 1 bedroom units he can stretch his points even more. If he bought a 1 BR and/or bought an non-peak week, the exchange availabilities will be more limited. There are lots of "tricks" to stretch your points.A good friend of mine just bought into the timeshare at Weston. We're booked in May for a week at Vacation Village at Bonaventure and we're very excited. I've done a lot of research on the Weston resorts and the Weston community and everything I have read has been positive. The Weston resorts are not on the ocean (about 20 miles away), but Weston is a very upscale, safe community west of Ft. Lauderdale close to the Everglades.
We're looking very forward to taking the water taxi everyday up and down the intercoastal waterway (several stops along the way) and to South Beach in Miami and seeing all the beautiful homes and yachts along the waterfront.
There's also a van shuttle available to Key West from Ft. Lauderdale, which we intend to do one day. We've been to Key West, but it was for about 4 hours only (we took the ferry from Ft. Myers to Key West). We want to spend more time there than 4 hours. There's also a cruise ship shuttle that goes to Nassau daily.
Of the three Weston timeshare resorts, Mizner Place is the newest and we're looking forward to checking it out. We're thinking this may be a yearly destination since there's so much to do and see in the area.

From Redweek's resort description of Mizner Place:
1775 Bonaventure Blvd. Weston, Florida, United States, North America 33326
The luxurious Mizner Place is located in Weston's new Town Center, occupied with more than 100 shops, galleries, restaurants and specialty stores in a Main Street atmosphere and golf community setting. The resort has 150 two-bedroom lock-off units with kitchen and on-site amenities that include swimming pool, whirlpool hot tub, and exercise equipment. Off-site, members have access to a nearby 18-hole golf course and tennis courts.

Have been to Weston. Don't forget the Sawgrass Mill Factory Outlet Mall. You can get there by taking a resort shuttle right to the bus stop. Don't forget the Cheesecake Factory. My husband went on a fishing excursion but we missed the Everglades. Next Time. We got one week in Orange Lake Dec. 10 2006 and one week in Bonaventure Dec. 17 2006. Booked end of March 2006. Weather was good. No tans but able to walk around with shorts but Hey most of the pools are heated. No Problem.

I forgot about the humongous Sawgrass Mills Factory Outlet Mall. We also want to visit Las Olas Riverfront, Flamingo Gardens, Butterfly World, Port Everglades (where the cruise ships port) and Hollywood Oceanfront Boardwalk. We've already done an Everglades swamp tour in an air boat - very interesting fast ride. There's just so much to see and do in the area.

I have lived in Weston for the last 14 years, while it is a beautiful community, and the timeshares are very nice, i cannot understand why anyone would want to be so far from the beach and the usual vacation nightlife.....Yes, there are a few things out here, but for the most part you are far from everything...Just my opinion

Okay, here goes, at one time we owned 2 gulf front timeshares (Panama City Beach) and 1 oceanfront timeshare (Daytona Beach Shores), so seeing the gulf and/or ocean isn't a high priority for us at this time, plus we used to vacation once or twice a year in Orange Beach/Gulf Shores, AL renting gulf front condos there.
We also traded into a Pacific Ocean front timeshare in Capistrano Beach, CA and after seeing the waves breaking off the Pacific Ocean onto the beach, we realized the Atlantic Ocean is tame by comparison. We've also taken several cruises, so we are about oceaned out.
At this time in our life we are more interested in the intercoastal waterway in Ft. Lauderdale. We will go to the beach/ocean, but it's not a high priority on our list of 'things to do' in and around Ft. Lauderdale, however I realize that the ocean is an important part of most people's vacations.
BTW, we're not much into nightlife. It's seldom that we're up past 11 p.m. :o).
We do plan to fly to Ft. Lauderdale next year and take the shuttle to Key West. We've been to Key West, but it was only for about 4 hours when we took the Key West shuttle boat from Ft. Myers.

Be very aware of the pressure you receive when they give you a free lunch or dinner. We finally go out after 3 hours of nos. They had the nerve after 3 hours to offer us one week at Weston for 2 deeded weeks at the Grand at Las Vegas, and oh yes $11000 additional. Remember RCI is Windom, enough said. Dale Christian
