First Time Visitor to Ridge Tahoe Late Sept. 2008
Hi All- I am a senior-type woman exchanging into the Ridge Tahoe beginning 9/21 until 9/28/08. My adult son and adult daughter will accompany me. We're from Ohio and have never been to Tahoe; we'll be flying into Sacramento and driving up, and returning to Sacramento the night before flying out. We already know there are no rooms with twin or two beds at the Ridge. I'm also wondering is they have any accessible rooms, which would be more comfortable for me. We plan to sightsee around the lake, a lake cruise, possibly a visit to Carson City or Virginia City; also a show, if something good in on at the time. I would like to use an indoor pool if it's accessible. What can you frequent visitors to Tahoe share to make our visit memorable? We realize it can get cool at night; I'm wondering if I should be concerned about the altitude. Any dining tips- we prefer casual and healthy? Thanks for any and all help.

If you are staying in a two bedroom then you sleep six because of the couch/sleeper.
Virginia City is a must and its only about 30 minutes outside of Carson City.
Also Reno trip would be fun and is about 1-1:15 minutes from the Ridge.
We own two units and always drive down the hill about 10 minutes to the Chart House one night and Wally's resort has a great place to eat and foods you wouldn't believe.
Also of coarse casino's in south shore and north shore to visit. We always drive around the lake and have lunch in north shore.
They have a early dinner cruise on the lake on The Dixie Queen or late dinner and dancing.

Hi Jerry, Phil, and Rosemary- Our visit to Lake Tahoe was a great success; thanks to the suggestions given here and to my adult "kids" who made so many activities easy and accessible. Flying in to Sacramento, we rented a car, stopped in Placerville for groceries and arrived at the Ridge Tahoe on a very windy Sunday evening. We were placed in the first building as you enter the grounds, with garage underneath; our suite was spacious and beautifully maintained. Twin beds in one of the bedrooms would have been preferable for our party, but the sofa bed was used half time by each of the younger ones. They took full advantage of the morning stretch classes and hikes offered as activities, while I viewed 3 of the noon movies offered each weekday, plus played bingo and designed a greeting card in a class. Also used the shuttle several times between buildings, used the pay computer, and had a fine salmon dinner in the Hungry Bear Restaurant one evening. Didn't use the indoor pool or spa facilities. Daughter and son purchased at the Chamber of Commerce a 2 disc CD which gave a tour around the Lake, west to east. This was great for pointing out and describing the various historic and scenic spots. We stopped at beaches, histoic homes and camps, Squaw Valley, went over to Truckee, into the CalNeva casino, Cave Rock, etc. Wonderful day tour. Another day we went to Virginia City, including The Way It Was Museum, the Old Opera House, various scenic saloons, etc. Passed through Carson City coming and going, and stopped at Wally's on the way back - would have planned more time there had we realized the connection with The Ridge management. My final highlight was the gondola ride from the Marriott to near Heavenly.- 9300ft! Breathtakingly beautiful in all directions. They do a good job up there of explaining all that you can see for miles. We had dinner at the Lakeshore Casino, where I wagered and lost $2. The younger ones made several and longer visits to the large Casinos on the CA-NV border. All in all, a most memorable trip; I would recommend the Ridge Tahoe and a visit to the Lake Tahoe area to anyone interested in experiencing new and beautiful sights in the Western US.
