Hanalei Resort's Manage Company

Aug 03, 2010

Which management company is over Hanalei Resort in Princeville, Hawaii (Kaua'i)? Are the owners currently having major issues with the management company? What is the situation with the Princeville Hotel? I understand it has been closed for some time. Hanalei Resort is on my short list for possible purchase but I have some concerns even though I hear it is a lovely resort.

Hanalei Bay Resort is now managed by Trading Places and is owned by individual owners and its timeshare owners. Celebrity Resorts was thrown out (after litigation and a settlement) but still has control over the bar and restaurant that were closed and has rental privileges because of "developers rights" that they purchased from Quintus Resorts. Celebrity Resorts is in bankruptcy. We leave for Hanalei Bay this weekend for a three week stay at our home away from home. The aloha spirit is returning to this Heavenly Bay Resort. Come and capture the magic of why it's so special and why we fought to protect it so we could return. Laurie

p.s. The Princeville Resort (next door) closed for renovation and is now the St. Regis.

Thanks Laurie 121 for your reply. Are you happy with your ownership and the management at Hanalei Resort? Do you recommend it for those looking to purchase? I am a timeshare owner and am considering Hanalei Resort as another purchase. Any information, positive or negative, that you can give me is appreciated. Thanks, mikebrad

We've owned approximately ten years at HBR and because we love being there we've put up with the turmoil of the past few years. Trading Places seems to have a solid background in timeshare travel and management and the new General Manager (Scott) at HBR has performed small miracles when you consider dwindling funds and no annual upkeep by Celebrity and Quintus over time. Our Board members are very dedicated and our owners came together to accomplish what we did in turning this around. This is a prime location and a resort that has majestic views and incredible owners. We own other timeshares, but there's no place like HBR. We paid top dollar when we purchased years ago and today's prices for these units are a give away! Laurie
