Renting a unit

Nov 22, 2010

I see some condos are advertised to rent for 10.00 a night. Can this be real? If I wanted to rent one do I just send my credit card information to the contact person? Or can you send a check? Is this legit?

Looking for some help, first time looking at this web site.

Is there an area where you can look at to see what the experiences of others have been?

You should assume that there is a typographical or computer error involved in ANY "$10 per night" rental ad.

Any and every timeshare week owner is paying somewhere between $350 and $1,350 PER WEEK, EVERY YEAR (depending on what and where their timeshare is) for EACH individual timeshare week they own. Accordingly, renting out an owned timeshare for $10 per night when the ownership itself is likley costing the owner around $100 per night (maybe considerably more) in maintenance fees would be financial suicide for the owner of that week.

I'd ask the advertiser for some clarification on the figures for any such highly unlikley $10 rental ad -- it MUST be wrong...

Hi Robert,

Owners add their own postings to RedWeek and don't always add enough zeros to the rental price. That may be the case with the postings you are seeing. Please email us at support@redweek.com for the rentals you are referring to and we'll take a look at them. If need be, we'll contact the owner and ask them if the price is correct or not. For information on the rental process please click on the "Resources" tab then "Renting a Timeshare Directly from an Owner". A paid membership is required to contact any owners. Membership is $14.99 for 12 months.

Thank you, Marty

Kindly explain What and Why the $50 per week "Timeshare Tax" is when renting/using a unit ?

I don't know about a timeshare tax; but when you break your time up into more than your alloted weeks, you may encure additional cleaning fees with each reservation. Starwood charges $40 - $75 depending on location. Maybe this is what they are talking about but just calling it something else.

Nothing to do with BREAKING up our week ! ... We're charged $50 per week for USING our normal Timeshare week. We're told it's a government use tax. For what ?
