Price quoted on RedWeek resale ads
filb wrote:Each individual seller placing a "timeshare for sale" ad establishes his / her own asking price. Some asking prices are completely unrealistic and overly optimistic, while others are more reality-based and more mindful of the current resale market.I am not sure how the selling price is stated for sale by owners. For example, for the same location, some state $300 for a two bedroom unit and some quote $8000 for a two bedroom unit. What is the difference? Please advise.
Also, different times of year may be a big factor, even within the exact same location. For one example, a winter week in Key West, Florida is always extremely valuable and virtually never seen advertised at "bargain" prices. However, a summer or fall (i.e., hurricane season) week at the exact same Key West resort in the exact same unit may well be worth (and advertised for) only a small fraction of the price of a highly desirable winter week.
Still another factor in widely varying asking prices seen in ads is that some sellers base their "asking price" (at least in part) upon what they paid previously for the week being advertised. Unfortunately, this figure is completely irrelevant and entirely meaningless in regard to actual current resale market value. Prospective buyers (quite understandably) DON'T CARE ONE BIT what a seller may have previously paid for a week being advertised for sale. The prudent timeshare shopper / buyer simply (and understandably) just wants to find the best price and value available and offered TODAY for the same (or a closely comparable) week.
