Selling your Timeshare

Jan 12, 2012

I hear a lot a horror stories about trying to resell timeshares. Has anyone had any good experiences? I was reading all the complaints about Tele Teton corp. Everything just sounds very bleak as far as any possibility of every reselling them.

Some input would be appreciated.

I was able to get rid of two timeshares this year by deed backs. I just contacted the resorts and found the right people to talk to. I advised them that I was going to get rid of them with or witrhout their assitance and it was in their best interest to work with me. They both agreed to take them back with just quit claims. I have all the recored deeds filed away in my safe and I have not had to pay maintenance fees again. It's definitely worth a try first. I got the information to try it from an article I read in Timesharing Today and it worked. Good luck.

Thank you for the reply. Interesting approach. So, basically you were able to give your timeshares back because you weren't able to sell them, right? The initial investment is all gone. You are free from paying maint fees.

I tried selling them, renting them and donating them. I was able to rent them but it didn't cover my maintenance fees. I was happy that they took them back and all I had to pay was minimal filing fees and the next years taxes. By deeding them back there was no closing costs other than the filing fees. It's a great feeling not to have to pay maintenance fees this year. I also don't have to worry about getting hit with a special assessment down the road.
