Feb 15, 2012

Timeshare Crusader Lisa Ann Schreier answers the following question in this month's newsletter:

I recently received a letter from the president of RCI warning me against attending an "RCI Update" meeting in my area. Apparently these meetings are not sanctioned by RCI, but are a scam. Have you heard about this?

My wife and I went to a meeting and were told to convert to points from weeks that we needed to buy into a points based resort. We were also told that if money was a problem we could convert our RCI banked weeks to cash.We did so and later found this to be false. The salesman Roy Slocum when confronted said that in the past you could sell off banked weeks and that he was not a liar.So now we need to have a loan on a credit card to pay this off.We cannot get out of this since too much time has passed. We now own a week at Sunset Harbor in Willis Texas that we bought in this agreement .Although we did get a timeshare week for our money and did not lose money, the method of paying for this was falsely presented. We would not have made this purchase had we known the truth.Beware of Roy Slocum. He owns a travel agency in Branson Missouri
