Is there a company I can trust to sell my timeshare?

Go to ltrba.com. They are licensed real estate brokers. They will take their commission out of the proceeds of the sale (that's legally the way it must be). However, keep in mind that they charge a minimum $1000 commission and most timeshares are not worth nearly that amount.

If you find that your timeshare has little or zero resale value, you can give it away yourself if you put in a little effort. Try advertising here in RedWeek's Bargain Basement for $1 or free. You can also try Bidshares, E-bay, Craigslist, or My Resort Network.

Timeshare Users Group (aka "TUG"; tugbbs.com) has a BArgain deals section where you can advertise for free that you simply want to give your timeshare away. Just follow the directions at the top of that page.

Also, keep the cardinal rule in mind to never, ever pay anyone a large, upfront fee to sell, rent out, market, or "cancel" your timeshare. Any outfit asking you to pay a large fee before they act (regardless of what euphemism they give this fee or tax) is a scam!

Also remember that many owners are having a challenge even giving their timeshares away for free. So if there are no immediate takers, don't panic. Be patient and keep trying.
