"Keys without Fees"

Oct 14, 2012

Has anyone used this company for renting your timeshare?

If they ask for a large upfront fee then they're scams.

They've been sending cards and calling me from a California number. Their claim is to take your Wyndham (only) points off your hands w/o a fee and allow you to rent points back from them at a discount. The catch is you must pay your m/f a year ahead. TUG has a few posts on whether it is or even sounds legit (or not). The jury is still out.

The fact that they are initializing contact with you (sending cards, making phone calls) is usually a sign of a scam.

Them supposedly calling you from a CA number is irrelevant. Many scam artists use a voice over internet phone and can "spoof" phone numbers. They could very well be calling you from outside the USA.

What are you hoping to do with your timeshare? If you're looking to just get rid of it, then advertise it on reputable timeshare resale sites such as here on RedWeek.

Why would anybody give their Wyndham points to an entity then turn around and rent the same points from them, but you still have to pay your maintenance fees a year ahead .... if you give them your points why would you even have a maintenance fee .... sounds like a scam city to me.

Personally, I haven't or plan to deal with them. I've spoken with their rep a couple of times in moments of boredom, mostly to find out their m.o. He wasn't pushing me, which kept me on the line. He called both times from a number that matched the address he gave. I never answer numbers starting with Florida area codes or bogus numbers like (123)456-7890. These people claim to assume your deed free and clear... as long as your title is clear and fees are paid a year in advance for only the first year. That way they have a year to market Wyndham points in large quantities. They supposedly allow you to rent points back from them at a discount as a 'courtesy', but you're not obligated to anything once they take the deed. Or at least that's how I understood it... The debate on TUG has been whether a business model like that could actually work, or not. If they've discovered a way to put one over on Wyndham, more power to 'em. If they're just another scam, we should expose them as such.

They contacted me and said if sign a contract we would no longer pay another mainteance fee. They would ask us to pay 1/2 of the charges that Wyndham charges to change the deed over which would about 700. Said we could have our attorney look everything over

So does anyone know if this is a scam>

NEVER pay anyone money upfront to get rid of a timeshare. Your money and the scammers will disappear right before your eyes.

Somehow along the line Key Without Fees will ask for an upfront fee.

This company still has an "A" rating and zero complaints with the BBB. Hmmmm. Anybody still think they are not legitimate? I cannot find one complaint anywhere. They do not charge up-front fees. They just ask that you pay the MF's during the transfer. Again, I have not found a complaint anywhere. This tells me, since the first post about them was in 2012, that they must be holding up their end of the bargain. Anyone disagree?

Try using them if you feel confident. It's your money but don't be surprised if you lose money and the timeshare is still in your name when the deal is done.
