Smoking!
naomig...
Myself and many other owners purchased our weeks here due to the Divi's favorable outside smoking policies and their long standing decison not to infringe unnecessarily on the rights of smokers. If you are an owner, then you knew their policy when you purchased......nothing has changed. As you may know, in Aruba, there are few facilities that place limits or even discourage smoking.
Outside areas at most locations on the island allow smoking and that includes balconies, every beach I've been too, parks, restaurants, bars, casinos, hotel lobbys and even some stores. Many taxis even allow it. It is not allowed inside most resort and hotel guest rooms, in elevators or most restrooms. There are a few small hotels and apartments for rent that are 100% non-smoking.
While there are some smokers that are rude and "eviromentaly hostile" not caring where their smoke or cigarette butts go, many are aware of their surroundings and will refrain from smoking and even move away if the smoke appears to be bothering a non-smoker, especially in restaurants.
While the Divi does allow smoking in most areas, pool, beach and on all balconies, I do know the Marriot is one that does not permit smoking in rooms, balcony and around most of the pool area due to the very large number of families with children that stay there. Maybe that location, as a non-smoking site, would be more to your liking. However, their beaches have always permited smoking.
