Membership fee - Just wondering

May 06, 2014

I am looking to rent a timeshare (condo) from an owner.I have found what I want and it is available but I am being asked to pay $14.99 to contact the owner. What is the advantage of paying for a membership? There are other reputable sites that do not require you to pay a fee to find out more info, contact owners, etc.. Am i paying for security? If that is the case i think it is totally worth it. If not for security then what? Thanks

Yes, you are paying for security for the information (email address) to contact the owner. I wouldn't want my email address blatantly displayed on the internet .... spammers and scammers aren't going to pay the fee for email addresses.

Thanks. Does it also protect my information?

What "information" are you hoping it will protect?

Anyone who wishes to contact you through RedWeek about your RedWeek ad must first pay the membership fee.

any correspondence he sends you will appear in your membership account and also be forwarded to your e-mail. RedWeek will not provide people with your contact or other personal info except to contact you through your RedWeek account.

Any correspondence between you and the owner is strictly confidential .... your name and email address will not be listed anywhere on Redweek.

If a contract is in place stipulating the terms of the rental and you are in agreement with those terms then you should be safe .... prices for rentals can be all over the place as it merely depends on what the owner wants from the rental.
