Paying to contact sellers in the classified ads?
I was just wondering if this was true, or if I have somehow made a mistake. I pressed the contact owner in the classified ad, and was brought to the form where I input the payment to become a member of redweek. If that is the case, I could see a lot of potential buyers being discouraged from ever becoming members of redweek.com. Why would I pay for something I could get for free somewhere else?

Danny,
The primary reason we require a membership to contact an owner is to keep away scammers and spammers who frequent many of the free sites. They will not usually pay a membership fee, so our owners time is then free to consider only serious offers.
If you are unable to connect with an owner to arrange a transaction, please Contact Us within 30 days and we are happy to fully refund your membership fee.

Well then my best advice would be to go to free sites such as Craigslist, Bid Shares, or E-bay. See if you can find the variety and availability that RedWeek has.
Remember, you do not have to buy a membership (which is only $15/year) to view ads. You can view them with your free RedWeek membership. You have to pay for the membership if you want to post ads or contact the owner.
If you want to contact the owner, then that means you are serious about buying or renting. And if you can afford to buy or rent, you should be able to afford $15 for the membership. If you can't afford $15, then you should not be in the market to rent or buy a timeshare.
