Donate For A Cause transfer co. Timeshare Specialists

Aug 13, 2015

if you dont want tax credits DFC will do a transfer for $1025.00 Plus you pay 2016 annual fees

I have a 2 bedroom lock off .....annual use....at Cascades section of Sheraton Vistana Resort

I really need to get out of this timeshare...annual fee was $1187

Does this sound legit?

NEVER pay anyone money upfront to take the timeshare out of your name. How can you be sure they will take your title and not just your money. Can you imagine paying this company all that money and then finding out that you still own your timeshare and now you are delinquent on the next years maintenance fees. If you want to be able to sleep at night find another way to get rid of it.

First try calling the resort and telling them that you are getting rid of it and they can work with you to take it back through a " deed back " or you will find another way to get rid of it and it is to their advantage to work with you. I got rid of two timeshares in 2011 that way and all I had to pay was a minimal fee to process the paperwork. It might take a few phone calls to get in touch with the right person who handles those transactions but it's well worth the effort.

Actually, Donate for a Cause usually does what it says it does. I would make doubly sure that, if you proceed with DFC, DFC actually signs a deed transfer and not a Power of Attorney.

The one thing that seems a little puzzling to me is that DFC is charging "only" $1025 plus the next maintenance fee. DFC usually charges more.

However, you can do what Don P suggested and, with a little effort, you might be able to get rid of your unit for a lot less money. The other suggestion would be to advertise your unit for "sale" on websites such as RedWeek's Bargain Basement, E-Bay, My Resort Network, Timeshare Users Group (aka "TUG"; tugbbs.com), or even Bid Shares. Mention that you are wanting to give it away and offer to pay the closing costs ( a lot less than $1025) plus the next maintenance fee.

Re: Calling resort and asking them to take back the week.....

Unfortunately my timeshare is a Starwood Sheraton one and I tried that approach several years ago.

If I knew how far their collection efforts would go...I would just say I'm done.
