I have a person interested in renting my timeshare in Cabo San Lucas. He is asking if he pays with U.S. Dollars or Canadian currency. Can anyone shed light on this subject?

Thank you.

The renter is probably Canadian and doesn't know where you are from. Do you want to be paid in Canadian or US dollars? Obviously you would want to be paid in your local currency. One thing to be aware of when paid through PayPal is the transaction fee is higher for international processing. Some Canadians have CC with US addresses associated with their paypal account that can avoid the extra 1.9%.

That's for you two to agree upon. What price did you agree upon? Usually, transactions for timeshares are in U.S. dollars. You also have to agree upon the method of payment. Most owners ask for Pay Pal.

Are you recommending PayPal directly into my account rather than going through First American Escrow? I never thought of that.

If you go through First American Title:...

1)... there's a $100 fee. You and the party renting would have to decide and agree upon who pays that.

2)... the party renting can back out no fewer than 60 days prior to check-date. Do if the party cancels 60 days beforehand, what would you do?

and 3)...you don't get paid until at least 11 days after check out.

With Pay Pal, you don't have to worry about these.

This is nice to know. I was just reading the escrow instructions and was contemplating using the service. I will stick with the paypal transaction.

Thanks.
