Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Grand Mayan Riviera Maya (2 bedroom timeshare)- Vida Vacations

Mar 06, 2016

In 2012, we had booked a vacation at the Mayan Palace (Vida Vacations). Like any other resort, the minute we arrived, we got sucked into a 90 minute presentation with a free breakfast. While the property is beautiful, their marketing team certainly knew how to oversell the timeshare weeks. They talked up the value so much and tried to sell us 6 timeshare weeks. The hooked us up with Custom vacations mexico (another marketing company) that guaranteed to market our timeshare weeks at $2500 a week. We finally caved in and put our savings as an investment into this property and bought 3 timeshare weeks. We were so optimistic that we would get value for our money because CVM would help us rent our weeks. To our dismay, CVM didnt call us even once. I placed multiple calls to Vida and to CVM expressing my frustration in 2012 & 2013 that they hadnt marketed a single week. One fine day when I called again in 2014, I was told by Vida that CVM went out of business. No one even bothered to inform us about this unfortunate event. So the bottomline is it has been 4 years and We have used our timeshare just twice(2 weeks in 4 years) and got no return on investment on the marketing weeks. Everytime we take our grievance to Vida sales, they try to persuade us to invest another $30,000 and upgrade so they can rent it on our behalf.

The issue and our frustration still remains unresolved. I would urge the redweek community to be very cautious about the promises that are made. I feel like I have been ripped off and I feel disrespected everytime I try to work with them towards a solution
