If you buy the Travelex travel insurance plan offered through Marriott, be highly aware of a massive coverage loophole.
My Spirit flight home was recently cancelled, and I had to book an expensive replacement flight. I filed a Trip Interruption claim under my Travelex policy (underwritten by Zurich).
They denied my claim. Why? Because Zurich contacted Marriott and confirmed my reservation was booked using purchase incentive/bonus points rather than my standard use-year points. Zurich pointed to the fine print stating the policy is only intended to "afford coverage for the annual Maintenance Charges paid by you to Marriott Vacation Club."
Because my specific stay didn't utilize standard maintenance-fee points, they declared the entire trip ineligible and refused to cover my airfare.
Do not buy this policy if you plan to travel on bonus or incentive points. It is better to buy a standard, third-party retail travel insurance policy (or rely on a premium credit card's travel protections) that isn't tied to the complex eligibility rules of your Marriott point status.
