Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares
If I buy a resold Spg Westin timeshare can I convert that to points annually like I would if I bought the timeshare “new”?

Hi we are thinking of buying a resold timeshare for the princeville westin I’m Kauai. I know if I buy it new I can convert the the unit into spg options or spg points. Do I have the same option if I buy a resold timeshare? Or am I stuck with using it only in princeville? Thanks
Hopefully someone will come along and answer your question. In the meantime you should get some help at the Vistana forum at the Timeshare Users Group (TUG) website:

Only weeks bought directly from Vistana (or requalified with a retail purchase) are eligible to convert to hotel points- SPG. The Princeville Westin is not a mandatory resort, that means if you buy there you get a deeded float week that isn't even eligible to use the SVN to exchange internally for other Westin and Sheraton resorts. If you wanted to go somewhere else your option would only be to use Interval.
