question about starwood resales ?

Jan 23, 2019

Does anyone know how starwood resales work in relation to using staroptions to travel to other resorts in their system for example owning in Broadway plantation in gold season, and wanting to go into a smaller unit in Vistana villages in the platinum season. My concern is that if I buy a week at the resale level, I will not be able to travel within their Starwood Vacation Network,(SVN). If anyone can clarify this, I would appreciate it--thanks

Most resorts in the SVN system are voluntary which means that if you purchase resale, you lose ability to use the Starwood Vacation Network using points. They revert to a fixed or float week only that would need to be exchanged through an exchange company like Interval International in order to go anywhere else. So no Staroptions if you own a Sheraton Broadway Plantation resale.

The resorts that are Mandatory and remain in points eligible to use SVN are:

Westin St John: Hillside phase only

Harborside Atlantis

Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas-North

Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas

Sheraton Vistana Villages: Key West and Bella phases only

Westin Kierland Villas
