Does the resale purchase count towards the destination membership levels?

Feb 28, 2019

So, if I have a legacy week with MVCI, and, I have the minimal destinations points as well, which I do, I have a II account which can pay for many Interval fees. If I purchase via resale say here (not from Marriott if that's even still possible) another legacy week, can I get that week added to my same Interval account that is paid via Destinations dues? So, in other words, can I take advantage of the "free" fees after purchaging the resale? Or, does it need it's own account and another II membership?

Does the resale purchase count towards the destination membership levels? (Select, Presidential, etc.)?

I know I can't turn it into rewards points, can I turn it into destinations points though? (Probably not).

From the inception of the destination program with Marriott, resale points do count toward levels and you are eligible to use the points in any way that retail points can be used including turning them into reward points. That can change in the future. It is likely but not guaranteed that if they changed this current resale owners would be grandfathered in and their points would still be treated the same as retail points. If Marriott decides to put limits on resale destination points it would likely effect resale purchases after the restrictions go into effect.
