Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares
Anyone have experience like this?

We were discussing a purchase with a sales person at a Cobo time share that their price was to high. When we brought up buying a resale he ranted on that 3rd party resale owners don't get the same benefits as the original owner. IE, if we bought a even year time share we could not accelerate another even year forward into a odd year as we can when we buy from the resort. Anyone have experience like this?
Just be glad that you got out of there before he suckered you into a purchase. Yes, many people have had experiences such as yours. True, resale buyers at times do not have the same benefits as retail buyers, but whatever perks and benefits you get by buying retail, they are not worth the tens of thousands of dollars you have to pay for them.
BTW, timeshare salespeople are notorious for telling lies, half-truths, and exaggerated facts and figures.
