Timeshare giveaway
Legal Timeshare Transfers is one company that's recommended for doing title transfer. It charges a small fee if no money has to change hands between grantee and grantor.
Do you have your original owner's packet? If so, you can find the documents there. As well, LTT might be able to retrieve these for you (although there might be a fee for that).
Also, you can check out Westgate's Legacy program that allows owners to surrender ownership back to Westgate. There is a fee for this and your mortgage as well as your maintenance fees must be paid up. In fact, they must be paid up before you can find a new taker.
If they are paid up and Westgate does not accept your unit back through its Legacy program, you can try advertising it for giveaway on reputable timeshare websites. Keep in mind that Westgate has a bad name and reputation so it will be a challenge to find a new taker. Given that, you might have to offer the new taker an incentive such as you paying the closing costs and maybe even the next maintenance fee.
Another last resort if the aforementioned suggestions don't pan out is to simply default on your mortgage (if you still owe on it) and the maintenance fees. After some harassing collection calls and letters, Westgate will just eventually foreclose on you but you will likely face a ding or mark on your credit history and score.
The one important thing to remember is to not seek the "help" of these companies, law firms, or charities that claim they can "cancel" your timeshare. Those are usually scams. They usually have words in their names such as "exit", "relief", "cancel", "release", and the like.
