Check in delayed

If I am not able to check in the first day on the reservation, does that void the reservation. I understand the check out date doesn’t move.

Late check-in does not invalidate your reservation, but you should still definitely contact the resort directly ahead of time to inform them of the specific details of your late arrival / check-in.

Many smaller independent resorts have their offices completely closed on Sundays, for example, so if your check-in day is supposed to be on a Saturday and you are not arriving until Sunday, you will certainly want to know well ahead of time exactly where and how to get your keys on Sunday if the office is closed for that entire day. In such cases, there is usually a lockbox on site (with access code required to get your keys, so you might need to get that lockbox access code information in advance of your delayed arrival, during the office operating hours).
