Listing not verified how safe is it

Owners of fixed weeks in fixed units at independent (non-chain) resorts do not actually get "confirmation numbers”, since they own the same deeded week in the same unit every year. Confirmation numbers are generally only associated with (or issued by) the "chains" (Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, etc.), since non-deeded weeks involve different units in different locations from one year to the next.
Resorts will (appropriately) never release owner information to any caller; privacy laws clearly prohibit them from doing so. Prospective renters have to first acquire any such information on their own directly from the advertiser. However, most resorts are willing to confirm information presented to them. In other words, there is a very big and very clear difference between a resort "releasing" information (which they won't) and a resort "confirming" information that the caller already possesses (which they might).
There is certainly something to be said for dealing with only "RedWeek Verified" listings, although "RedWeek verified" listings now also require some additional cost to both the advertiser and to the tenant in the rental of “RedWeek Verified" listings.
