I was vacationing in the area June 2007 and
decided to check out the units at "The Ponds".
The resort is a small resort and the units are
in a nice, secluded area and off the main-drag
so they should be very quiet. There is a pool
and a club house.
The buildings which hold multiple units are
based in a "U" shape and face the same
central area composed of little canals (Florida
style) which are a nice touch. The pool area
and club house is off to the side.
The units are three-story units done in a
contemporary style. All of the 1-Bedroom units
are on the ground floor. The 2-Bedroom units
are two-story units utilizing the 2nd and 3rd
floors of each building, above the 1-BR. The 2-
BR units are NOT lock-out units.
The ground floor units (1-BR) tended to be a
little dark depending on which way they
faced. The upper units had skylights in the LR
which brightened up the units a lot.
The kitchen was a galley style with a counter
that opened to the LR.
If I remember correctly, in the 2-BR, one BR
and Bath was on the first floor and another
Bed/Bath on the top floor.
The furnishings of the bedrooms and baths
are quite up to date but I found the
furnishings in the Livingroom/Kitchen to be
reminiscent of a 1970s contemporary. The
furnishings were in good condition, just a style
that I wasn't expecting.
The ground floor unit (1-BR) that I saw did
have a musty smell, probably due to its being
built on a slab. Perhaps it hadn't been used
lately. I didn't notice the same smell in the 2-
BR unit above it.
I would definitely stay at this resort, but would
probably try for a 2-BR since the unit is bigger
and brighter.
I'm rating this a 4-Star based on appearances
only.
