This is a great family resort. Several pools, two with tube slides. Lots of things to do at the resort including golf, theater, daily activities in addition to the pools. And, Legoland is a short distance away.

We have exchanged into this resort several times - have stayed in both the Mountain Villas and Villas On The Green. From guest units with no or minimal kitchen, and 1 and 2 bedroom with full kitchen.

Personally we don’t understand why the mountain villas cost more. They are considerably smaller, The guest unit was tiny, and cramped and the 1 bedroom also much smaller. Unlesx you want to stay up at the mountain villas with its own pool, poolslide, and activity center that is good for kids, I would recommend the older but updated villas on the green. Much more convenient as it is quite a distance to the main clubhouse, restaurant, shops and all the activities at the base and requires a car or a shuttle if it is operating.

It is in a very pretty setting but you will need a car to go anywhere offsite.

My family originally purchased this home as a family get-a-away almost 20 years ago. We have enjoyed it immensely. However, our kids are grown and the time has come for another family to enjoy the splendor of the Welk Resort. We hope that enjoy you as much as we have and make memories to last a lifetime. This particular week (26) usually includes the 4th of July week end, so there are extra activities for adults and children. It is a wonderful place!

We exchanged into the resort and were placed in a small 1 bedroom. Said it could sleep 4, but excessively tight--our guest decided not to stay over with us. Unit was clean, but in need of repairs (light switches not working properly, glass shelves in the refrigerator missing, faucets leaking) and located in a congested part of the facility. There were no elevators, but our bath was designed for a physically challenged user. They installed a ceramic bench in front of the shower head making it impossible to stand under the shower unless you were seated on the bench or leaning forward or backwards. I almost fell from getting dizzy leaning backwards to shampoo my hair. Parking was very limited, internet did not work for 4 days-which made planning our days very difficult. Warning--do not attend the presentation. Breakfast is coffee and a small muffin and the presentation lasts much longer than 90-120 minutes and you cannot leave as they bring you there by golf cart--leaving your car quite a distance away. Some units very beautiful, but all located on steep hills. Resort is not near anything--grocery store about 10 miles. Extended area (San Diego) is great, but traffic is a concern and must be considered when planning a day trip. Loved Temecula and our trip up the coast (especially Del Mar).

We love this resort! There are so many things for the kids to do and it is relatively quick access to the various zoos and amusement parks in the area without feeling like you are staying in the city.

Great location for taking advantage of all that southern California has to offer. You are more likely to have nice weather due to it's inland location. So many great pools on the property and a very reasonable golf fee. We love this resort and have been vacationing here for many years.

We have stayed here and LOVE it. Not a golfer but the course looks great! It is a short drive to train station to take you downtown San Diego, where you can easily catch tours. Avoids parking hassles.

Disappointed we had to forego this year for health issue.

The resort is absolutely beautiful with many pools and a golf course. The accommodations are updated with lots of activities available for adults and children. There are 1-3 bedroom suites.

Within approximately an hour of the resort you can visit San Diego, Disneyland, Legoland, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Oceanside, Carlsbad, just to name a few. I've enjoyed many years of vacations making memories with family and friends. You will love this resort and the ability to trade your points into many other locations in the U.S. and abroad.

Check in was quick and pleasant. We called the resort with a request for room location a week prior to arrival. All requests were granted. We stayed on Melody Hill, the only adult pool in the resort. Upon arrival we were informed that the pool and rec center were closed for major construction. The weather was a little cool so we weren’t inconvenienced. Our two bedroom, two bath Villa #152 was perfect, 1370 square feet with beautiful furnishings, large fully stocked kitchen and a corner deck on the 2nd floor overlooking the golf course (thru the trees). We went to the presentation and received show tickets for the “illusions” show, which was excellent, along with a $60.00 AMEX card. The presentation was very low key, they were selling points. The Welk Resort system is first class. Many activities for everyone to enjoy. The farmers market on Monday featured many vendors selling a variety of items. The Canyon Grill on site features a variety of lunch and dinner choices. A Pizza Hut Express is a great choice for take-out. We enjoyed our week stay and now will move up to the Mountain Villas for a week. The resort allowed us to stay in the Resort Villa until our Mountain Villa was ready for our move-in.

We stayed at the Welk this past week. Overall, it was a good experience. The resort is well kept. Pools are great for kids. Weather is great inland.

The positives: The two room unit we stayed in was spacious and was setup nicely. The two rooms were separated by the main living area so that my wife and I could watch TV in our room without having to worry about keeping the kids awake in the other room. The resort itself is very nice, has GREAT pools for the kids with slides that they really enjoyed. And being quite a bit inland from the coast ensures that you don't get socked in witht he marine layer every day and the temperatures were in the high 80's every day. We had bright sunshine every day. The resort is set in a valley so that views from the resort, specifically from the pools, are very nice.

The negatives: This place is really out in the middle of nowhere. It is a solid 10-15 drive just to get to a grocery store/convenient store. So, if you are like us and like to go out to dinner, this is a major hassle. I suppose if you bring/buy all your own food and mainly cook at the resort, this wouldn't be an issue, but it was for us. Also, if you want to go to the pools, it is very likely a drive/shuttle to get there. The best pool is the Mountain Springs, which for us was not walkable. The shuttle doesn't run nearly enough so it was a bit of a drag to have to drive to go to the pool. The Resort Villas where we stayed are clearly older -- there were gold accents in the bathroom that made me think of the 70's -- but it was clean...it was fine. Lastly, if you are a golfer like me, the golf onsite is a Par 3 course and an executive course. If you want a real golf course, you will again need to get driving. I played Twin Oaks -- 10 minutes or less away and it was fine.

We just returned from spending a week at the Lawrence Welk Resort. We do not own at this resort, it is in a good location if you want to go to the Wine area in Temecula, or travel to San Diego, about 45 minutes away. The staff put us in a older unit, since we do not own there. It was large, 2 bedroom, very old, new carpet and updated furniture. The freeway was very close, alot of noise. It could have been cleaner, dead bugs on the carpet, sliding door to patio very dirty, never cleaned, patio furniture dirty, showers had no water pressure. They did come back in and clean up a few things, not everything. The pool areas were nice, too cold in April to use. This is only a 5 Star Resort if you stay in the new units, that they are selling. The older units, need to be completly redone, I would rate about 3 Star. There are alot of older people here, who have bought alone time ago. You will need to cook here or travel about 30 minutes away to eat, they have a restaurant onsite, it was ok. The golf course was also ok, only a par 3, my husband was not impressed, took along time to complete, due to the older people playing. Just a note, that I did live a message with the General Manager on Staff, he never returned our call to see if everything was taken care of. No need to return to this resort.

Visited both Lawrence Welk Resort Villas and Lawrence Welk Villas on the Green ( separate lock out units). Had a small family reunion. Everything was 5 star quality. Service was great, lots of discounts, much for kids and adults to do.

Great patios, walking trails (paved), pools, pools, pools, clubhouse, you name it! Daily get to-gathers, and classes for all ages.

Owner Services was great, but don't hold your breath with RCI. You may talk to someone in Austria. If you go on the tour you may be offered bonus weeks with RCI, if you attend or buy, good luck!

We currently own 3 units. Make sure you have the weeks you want because a trade with RCI is almost impossible, again, Owner Services is wonderful.

Wish I had a dozen more.

We just returned from our stay. We stayed in a two bedroom unnit which was spacious and very clean. Since our kids are young, I like the traditional two bedroom and not the lock- outs. I believe the units in the Villas on the Green are lock outs.

There was a pool area for each section and one that had a big slide and children's play area. We spent a few days there at the pool, playground and club house and a few times at the pool near our section. My kids enjoyed both. Each area also had a hot tub or two.

Our villa had a mountain view, can't be beat. We saw many people ehjoying their mornings walking the path through the resort. We did that one morning. Very relaxing.

I can't tell you about the golf, but the course looked nice. I wish they had a miniature golf course for all the non-golfers and those of us with younger kids.

There was a pizza hut onsite and a restaurant, although we never ate at the restaurant. I believe they are building a marketplace area and are rennovating the lobby too. There was a Vons within a 10 minute drive where we bought most of our groceries.

I'd definitely return to this resort. It was a 35 minute drive to Seaport Village, Zoo and Sea World and a 20-25 minute drive to Carlsbad and Legoland. We had dinner in San Marcos one night too. And then we drove up to Anaheim to finish our vacation at Disneyland and that was less than 1 1/2 hours. So a great resort in a great location to enjoy all the area has to offer.

My partner and I are English and work in the timeshare industry, and are not easily impressed. It was our first time in this area, and we were a little concerned about the location, as on previous visits to the USA we haven´t hired a car.

We found the resort to be of the highest standard. Very spacious villas, well equipped and immaculate inside.

You definitely need a car. There was only one tour leaving from the resort, to Mexico. The rest had to be booked yourself, by travelling into San Diego or locating them on the map and driving to these destinations.

The most helpful member of staff was a lady called Jodie Howard, who worked in the concierge department. She gave us all the help we needed to ensure a fabulous stay! from restaurants to the best tours and trips. We had a most enjoyable stay because of her help!

One criticism was the lack of a shop for food etc. The restaurant was okay, but nothing special, and the nearest supermarket was 6 miles away! We ate out every day, but we all need those little extras for snacks and drinks. The 3-5 year plans for this resort are amazing, but for now, eating here, is not the resorts strongest point.

In all, a highly recommended resort, you will have a great stay.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Hyatt Vacation Club at The Welk. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained—it really feels like a true getaway from the busyness of everyday life. Our two-bedroom villa was spacious and comfortable, with a full kitchen and plenty of room to spread out. It was perfect for enjoying time together and made our stay feel more like home than a hotel. The resort has great amenities, especially the pools and activities, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout our visit. One thing to keep in mind is that the resort is located in Escondido, so it’s a bit of a drive to San Diego attractions. Also, some areas of the property could use a little updating, but overall everything was clean and well cared for. We would definitely return and would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a peaceful, family-friendly place to stay.
