Overall a very nice resort. We were in a one bedroom which was quite roomy for the two of us. The unit was clean and comfortable, but had not been updated yet like some of the other units. That wasn't a big deal, but right now we are at Sedona Summit in a room that is even nicer, and my guess is all the rooms at Villa Mirage will be this way. The grounds were nice. The pool was a little small for some activities, but not a problem really. We would stay there again. There was no problem checking in, parking passes are no longer issued, and no pressure to attend a presentation ( thanks, Michelle, in the concierge dept.). Activities were fun, especially water aerobics and a guided one hour walk of the area. My only real complaint is that a resort group this big should be willing to have free WiFi, or at the very least, a reasonable weekly charge. You need to sign up with AT&T at $30 for seven day, or a more expensive daily charge. Cheap motels on our way here had free internet.

Wonderful location and grounds. Multiple pools and spas; great 24 hour fitness center.

Hilton quality throughout. And the location in Scottsdale is the center of Spring Training locations.

The two bedroom includes a full kitchen, living room and dining area, washer/ dryer in your suite.

Great for families or 2 couples wanting to relax AND of course to watch multiple Spring Training games.

I would give this a 5-star but I agree that the units need some upgrading. Good news is that the Villa Mirage has started the process. As of the end of February, 2009, the pool area and fencing have been upgraded. The units are now undergoing complete renovation. By the spring of 2010, at least half of the units will have new appliances, hot tubs, furniture, tile, etc.

We are owners and rent several units for spring training and spring break weeks. The location is excellent and we spend several weeks in a one-bedroom unit in Jan and Feb.The staff is friendly and accommodating.

Not sure about the $25 fee for taking a tour but we have never received pressure or negative feedback from our renters. Worth a call to the property to check it out.

We rented a week through redweek. The transaction went smoothly without problem.

Pros: Good location with good acessibility to the 101. Pool is supposedly nice but was closed for the week that we were there, week starting Feb28, 2009. Even though the pool was closed the management provided a golf cart shuttle to the Neighboring Xona resort which by all accounts have a nicer pool anyway. Unit was good size, comfortable, clean, but dated. The grounds are also well kept and clean. They seem short some parking stalls as parking was definitely hard to find sometimes.

Cons: As stated above the unit we had could use an update. Staff make you pay a $25.00 deposit prior to attending a presentation to buy at the resort. They won't give you your keys and complete your registration without it. I am not even sure this is legal, but my wife had to check in alone after a 30 hour drive and was not about to argue for $25. It is a shady practice if you ask me. Also they charge approximately $29.95/computer for internet access for the week. This adds up fast when you have several kids that take online schooling.

I know I will be looking buy my next few weeks at the Sheraton Oasis next door.

Easy walking to a few nice resorts with good bar and restaurants but anything else like groceries movies or anything is a drive

This is a very nice resort off the main road. Clean, spacious units. Nice balcony and pool area. Great location to restaurants, shopping and golf. There are no elevators to the top floors. We bought here because we liked the exchange system they offered. We come to Scottsdale every two years and this location works well for us. Great day trips to other areas in Arizona.

We stayed here for a week in October, exchanging from our home Marriott resort. This was the first non-Marriott we have exchanged to, and we were quite disappointed. Interval International gives it a five star rating, which it definately does not deserve.

We were in a one-bedroom unit on the third floor, and got our exercise going up and down the stairs! We had a partial view of the large "adult" whirlpool area which is the only alternative to the main swimming pool. The unit was quite nice, with the bathroom being the highlight, including a well-stocked kitchen. We spent a lot of time on the roomy balcony. The few maintenance issues we had were taken care of immediately - very impressive.

But what was lacking were amenities. Only one pool, and a rather boring rectangular one at that, with not enough lounge chairs to go around. No clubhouse, and no poolside bar, just a dippy little snack bar, which was a poor excuse for onsite food. There seemed to be only two barbecue grills & ramadas for outdoor cooking - way too little for the 250 units. There were two nice tennis courts, but they were squished into a tiny area.

Basically, the place had the feel of an apartment complex, and had no lovely green or desert landscaping like better resorts. The activities offered were abysmal, and only aimed at children. Tours, true desert walks, and other things should have been offered.

Basically, Sunterra simply built a lot of units on a small area of land, then fit the pool, tennis courts, small kids' area, and two public buildings into teeny spaces. When we visited the Marriott time share nearby (we couldn't trade into it), we saw what a true 5-star timeshare should be like!!

The few pluses of the Villa Mirage were: cleanliness of the grounds and units, good maintenance, large & complete weight & work- out rooms. The minuses I have already mentioned!

Stayed in Unit 132 (two bedroom) for a week in March 2006. Outside the patio door was a hugh spa. Three internet computer at the Lodge to use for free or wireless in the room for a small cost. The Unit was great with the master bedroom/bathroom being bigger than a hotel room. Fireplace/hugh tub-spa in main bathroom. All staff was very friendly and we really enjoyed our stay. Only down side is three stories with only stairs/Glad we had a first floor room.
