Everything about this location and condo "community" is special. Kauai is considered the most "layback" island of all the Hawaiian Island chain. People are helpful and friendly, and my husband and I are treated with respect, and he is affectionately called "Uncle" by locals, as he has more gray hair than I.
We have visited the island of Kauai and Princeville area, including Hanalei for over 30 years. We call it our second home, because returning always feels that way. Between the idyllic scenery and wonderful fish (fresh catch of the day), and the world famous beaches, it is hard to choose which adventures we'll take-in on any given day.
For your first stay, I recommend one week, as this will give you just a taste of what is available, and enough time to seek out the best places to visit. I guarantee, most people will return, and stay longer next trip.
There is so much to see, not just on the North Side in Princeville and Hanalei, but there is also the famous Na Pali Coast (whale watching from one of Captain Andy's boats), to the West, the sunny beaches at Poipu, and plenty of scenic drives, like going into Waimea Canyon, or renting kayaks to go paddling on the river, or even tube down old irrigation canals in the hills.
The property and grounds at Ka eo Kai and Bali Hai Wyndham resorts, are kept in pristine condition. The staff is very helpful, and the 2 pools and 3 hot tubs are fantastic to hang-out, some even have waterfalls. I gave "Cleanliness" only 4 Stars, because it is somewhat objective. I just thought, on our last stay, the cleaning staff could have done a better job mopping the kitchen, and adjoining floors. I know the condos have a quick turn-around and are filled to capacity throughout all seasons, so I know they can't always be clean enough to suit everyone's standards.
Go and enjoy the Island, you'll have no regrets!
