Nice comfortable condo. One bedroom w/king bed, sleeper sofa, condo sleeps 4. Full kitchen, BBQ grills, tennis courts, under ground parking. About .5 mile to grocery store, about 3 miles to downtown Kona. Some units have golf course views.

The lanais at Holua Resort were a lovely place to start or end the day. This resort is just far enough away from the busy downtown Kailua-Kona to be quiet and peaceful but still close to activities, stores, and shopping. I enjoyed the mountain and golf course views. There isn't beach access from the resort, but a 5-minute walk gets you to Keauhou Bay for water access and tours. Nightly manta ray viewing at the neighboring Kona Outrigger resort was a favorite to see, but if you have time, take the night snorkel with the manta rays - a very cool experience. The location made a good home base for exploring the island.

Our visit at the resort was for two weeks. Prior to our arrival I called and requested a room with a nice view. BINGO! Room 85 in building 13 was excellent. Our view was on the 8th fairway of the Kona Country Club which the pin was sitting next to the Pacific Ocean. Every evening we enjoyed the setting suns vibrant colors. We could watch boats coming and going from Kealakekua Bay Marina. The resort is full of water features with one to the side of our Lanai. We enjoyed watching birds search for their evening meal. It was fun to watch the Mongooses that run about the grounds also. On Friday and Monday nights we enjoyed the music from the Sheraton’s Luau which was on the opposite side of the fairway. Shore access is available through the Sheraton property “Beach Access Trail” by parking on the far south side of the Sheraton and walking along the south perimeter of the hotel. How the room was situated created complete privacy at all times of the day. The resort I believe has 73 units and is adjacent to the Wyndham Mauna Loa. Our unit was a 2 story townhome with the two bedrooms and two baths on the first floor and main living and kitchen with dining on the top floor. There are two Lanais, one off the master with two chaise lounges and the upstairs Lanai off the living area, with a table and four chairs. Condo square footage is 1500’ plus. There are also 2 bedroom 2 bath units, ranch style floor plan sitting on top of each other. Their square footage in 1200” plus. Also, one bedroom plans. The grounds are lush with native plants throughout. Units are a little dated but very well kept. The end of the resort that is closest to the ocean is overlooking a new housing area. Pricing starts at $900,000 and one just sold for $1.8 million overlooking the Pacific. There are 40 lots in total for the development; construction will be around for some time The resort staff was excellent. Check-in was a challenge, our room wasn’t ready until 7:00, and there was a shortage of housekeeping.

Georgeous resort. With centralized underground parking and beautiful pathways (golf cart transportation readily available if you don't want to walk), the units are clustered into pods with water ponds, fountains and eight swimming pools. BBQ pits and jacuzzi's are conveniently located throughout the resort. The staff is very pleasant and accomodating. There are petroglyphs on site and the beginnings of a natural botanical garden. Truely a great stay. One caution, stay away from the sales presentation. The sales staff is very pushy and didn't seem to understand "not interested."
