Coronado Beach Resort (CBR) is not a mediocre resort. To be honest, I really dislike big sprawling resorts. I prefer smaller, older resorts that have a lot of charm. That is why I am a CBR owner. I enjoy CBR because of its location in a walkable, bikeable, and safe beach town with ample public transportation to city life across the bay in San Diego.

    UNITS

Exchangers can call 30 days in advance to request a unit. Because of the unique design of the building, units can vary in size and some have patios/balconies/jetted tubs/fireplaces. Every unit has a kitchenette with a full fridge but no oven - just a hot plate and microwave. Every unit also has a flat screen tv with dvd player.

    AMENITIES

Every week, there is a full calendar of daily activities, including a welcome breakfast on Mondays.

The lobby is a very nice area to relax and enjoy the complimentary coffee, tea, and newspapers. There is also free popcorn in the afternoon in the lobby.

In the lobby, there is a business center with two free-to-use computers and a printer/scanner. Next to the lobby is a small but well-equipped gym.

At the front desk, you can rent dvds and borrow board games. Also, there is free use of beach chairs, beach equipment (umbrella, cooler, beach toys, boogie board, beach towels), and bicycles.

On the second floor is the owners lounge which has a billiards table, table tennis, and a flat-screen tv.

On the third floor is the rooftop deck with lounge chairs and a nice view of The Del Hotel. There is a sauna, jacuzzi tub, and two barbecue grills for use.

There are laundry facilities on-site and vending and ice machines.

    UNIQUE PRIVILEGES

When staying at CBR, you have a VIP 10% discount to various shops and restaurants in Coronado. Also, the front desk has coupons for certain restaurants, such as free appetizers at Miguels, etc.

When staying at CBR, you also gain free access to the swimming pools, jacuzzis, basketball and tennis courts at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort (5 miles away). There is a free shuttle to the Loews (or you can park your car at a discounted rate). There is also a discount for the restaurant and spa services.

    NOTABLE INFO

You do not need a car to fully enjoy CBR and the surrounding area. Coronado is a walkable town with the beach a block away and a free shuttle to enjoy amenities at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort. If you need groceries, there is a nearby Vons grocery that you can walk to and take a taxi back to CBR. Also the city bus and tourist trolley literally stops right in front of CBR. One bus line (904) stays on the island of Coronado, which you can take to the other side of the island to eat and shop at the Ferry Landing, etc. The other bus line (901) will take you straight to the Gaslamp District which is the restaurant and bar neighborhood of San Diego. The 901 bus connects to other bus lines if you want to visit Old Town, Sea World, Little Italy, etc. The tourist trolley is also ideal if you want to see the sights of San Diego. But, if you want to simply stay on the island, there are over 15 miles of dedicated bike paths to explore using the free bikes at CBR.

Also, CBR has a daily resort fee for renters and exchangers. It is mandatory and covers the secured parking and WiFi regardless of use. Paying for parking is typical for hotels and timeshares in Coronado and downtown San Diego. The resort fee is far less than the daily parking fee at The Del, Marriott, and Loews hotels in Coronado.

Be advised there is a $22 per day resort fee which is ridiculous. I exchanged a 5 star for this mediocre resort, and my 5 star has no "resort fee" and luxurious accommodations compared to this.

A great resort in a prime location right across the street from the world-famous Del Coronado Hotel. The beach is a couple of blocks away. There are plenty of trendy shops and restaurants within walking distance. The resort has a rooftop jacuzzi, hot rock spa and BBQ grills. Additionally, you have access to three large swimming pools at Lowe's Resort on the Silver Strand. Transport is provided by a free shuttle. Harbor tours, Balboa Park, and the San Diego Zoo are minutes away.

No hyperbole: This Resort is THE best timeshare in the world. It is not outdated like others that haven't been refurbished since 70's 80's 90's. CBR has stayed luxurious. It is comfortable, tastefully decorated. Tropical and inviting. Location: Might as well be same as Hotel Del Coronado (which is on the nicest spread of California coastline beach in the world), you'll stay one cross walk away from The Del and use all their luxurious facilities and amenities as if you were paying to stay there $500-2,000 per night! But you get the PERKS of a timeshare like spacious accommodations, kitchen, cooking, utensils, extra bedroom if desired. Amenities Galore: big soaking jacuzzi on deck with a dozen loungechairs, several BBQ's, a new, beautiful Sauna with a view of the Del and the sunset on the OCEAN view as well! Everyone must stay here once a year. Coronado: the city envelopes you in it's warmth and charm....it feels like a Disney built time capsule on it's own island! Hop on a ferry and be at Gaslamp Quarters/downtown and the best dining in all of the world just minutes away! 5 stars is not enough for this world class resort! ******* U Must GO at least once and you will be back! CBR in my opinion is the best investment if you want to invest in one. Trading power is very high and you won't even want to trade!

Coronado Beach Resort is an absolute gem! It is located across the street from the famous Hotel Del and steps away from one of the worlds most beautiful beaches with soft sandy beaches and light waves and has perfect California weather all year round! It is located right on Orange street where there is plenty of shopping and restaurants. You have access to parking below the resort and amenities and pool at the nearby Loews resort. The resort has daily activities or treats for it's guests. It's the perfect place for a romantic getaway or family vacation.

This is a hidden gem on Coronado Island. A truly small wonderful resort and location with easy access to all major freeways so you can see the sights of San Diego. I am a San Diego native and once I moved out of state I purchased an ownership week here so we could visit regularly.

This resort is in the best location. I have rented a week from other owners, and loved it so much I am an owner, it is a great resort for the price. The service is great, the hotel is nice, but small. They have fun activities planned, you can use their bikes, beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards, etc. A fun resort for the family.

Best thing about this place is the walking distance to the beach, restaurants etc on Coronado. Dated decor, very noisy (including the parrot), so-so service. Studio has a murphy bed that is unusable, it opens width wise, so one person has to sleep "in a drawer". Unweildy, heavy, should be torn out and a bed put in. Access to Loew's made our stay bearable, spent most of every day there. Nice pools, tennis cts, restaurant, bar with giant TV. about 5 miles away. Stay at one of the resorts in Carlsbad, much nicer digs, esp four seasons aviara.

Disclosure: I own two weeks here. This hotel is located directly across the street from the world famous Hotel Del Coronado. A feature not discussed enough here in my view is that you can walk through the Hotel Del's property on a public footpath and in less than five minutes you are on a broad sandy (and public-use) beach on the Pacific Ocean -- the same one used by the Hotel Del's guests.

Further, within walking distance are a several restaurants (not chain-operated), a large bookstore (with discount for CBR guests), a small theater (plays not movies), San Diego Bay dotted with sailboats, and a large public park with art shows, etc.

Finally, immediately in front of the hotel is a city bus stop with a direct line to San Diego's Horton Plaza shopping center in only 30 minutes.

In a nutshell, what CBR has is location, location, location.

Stayed in a one-bedroom for a week. Yes, the location is great, but it definitely is not a 5 star resort. The room is small with a curtain, not a wall - should just be honest and call it a studio. It's noisy with the traffic flow 24/7 - how can it not since it's right in the middle of major intersections. It has no place to relax like a pool or a garden as most of the 5 star beach resorts. Have done a lot of traveling myself and stayed in different resorts, I know this one is only close to a 3 if not lower.

I bought a resale week here and used it for the first time last summer. I have three children under 4 years old and it was the BEST vacation we've ever had. The resort staff is super friendly and understanding of young children. Our one bedroom unit was beautiful and spacious (it was one of the remodelled units) and the kitchenette is fabulous. My kids went nuts for the resident macaw that lives in the lobby. They have snacks, happy hour, cookies, popcorn, pancake breakfast, etc. We could use beach equipment and bicycles - more things than we had time to try. The atmosphere is friendly and intimate and the location across from the beach is unbeatable. I highly recommend buying a resale at this resort!

Great location! I spent 2 nights at CBR while attending a seminar conducted across the street at the Hotel del Coronado. The unit was a good size and very nicely decorated. There are great restaurants all around ... just ask the friendly folks at the front desk. Too many positives to list. The only possible negative ... CBR didn't seem to have many activities that would be interesting for kids. Only a negative for those of us with young kids. All things considered, a great timeshare.

While attending a conference at the Loew's Coronado Bay Resort, I dropped by the Coronado Beach Resort to take a look. I was very impressed. The units are small, however they are tastefully decorated to utilize the space. The location is awesome! I own 1bdr summer timeshare weeks at San Clemente Cove and Tahoe Beach & Ski Club, and a spring or fall 2bdr week at Lagonita Lodge in Big Bear. I would LOVE to trade with a CBR owner for their summer or Thanksgiving week sometime. My South Lake Tahoe 8/19/06 week is already posted on this site if you want to take a look or contact me.
