The Westin St. John - Virgin Grand Villas Reviews & Ratings

We own here and love it!

We've been coming to STJ since our honeymoon in 1995 - the island is so beautiful and quiet, and the locals, the restaurants, the ocean, and the shopping and nightlife (both are limited) are so enjoyable.

The Westin has the Heavenly Beds, great service, restaurants, snack shop, outdoor grills, hot tub, b-ball, tennis and pickle ball courts, ping pong, (they used to have a pool table - not sure if they do again), playground, resort events - (dive in movie, local beer tastings, BINGO, ice cream socials etc.), the Westin gym, car rental on site, day trips (diving or snorkeling) from the dock, daycare services, hobby cats, snorkeling gear, paddle boards (all included in your stay) and taxi's that run you wherever you'd like to go (downtown or the beach).

We have stayed in all the phases except Coral Vista.

Only the Virgin Grand units were planned as a timeshare so they retro-fitted the other units and some were planned well, and others not so much.

All of the Westin has been re-done. Every phase has new furniture and each phase has it's benefits and I think it's every 5 years that everything gets refreshed:

Virgin Grand Villas (studio - 3 bedroom) have either semi-private pools (super close to the units) or private pools and nice, expansive views of the ocean over to St. Thomas. A very well thought out space. Parking is also right outside your villa. Golf carts will take you around resort/bring groceries and luggage if you didn't rent a car. This is the only phase that has a full size oven/stove.

Bay Vista (2-3 bedroom) have nice views of the ocean and some units can see over to St. Thomas. These bigger units are perfect for those traveling with a group and the exterior of the building is probably the prettiest of all the buildings. They are a bit up a hill, but the golf cart brings you all around. (Virgin Grand is also up a hill). With the Bay Vista Villas you are somewhat close to the main resort pool and the resort check-in area. Golf carts will help you take luggage/groceries to your room.

Coral Vista (studio - 3 bedroom). These units seems a bit strangely-placed on the Westin property. I've never stayed in these units, but the location just seems weird. The studio unit's bed is on the backside of the kitchen peninsula and the TV is parallel to the bed, not opposite the couch). These units are on more flat ground, but the shuttles can drive you with your luggage and groceries. They are close to the ocean and main resort pool and the resort "grocery store/snack bar".

Sunset Bay (studio - 3 bedroom). These units are closest of all units to the resort main pool and seemed a bit dark. The kitchen area felt a bit tight. Of the six units, 2 units have ocean view, the other 2 have pool views and the other 2 have just garden views. The studio units also have the bed on the back side of the peninsula/strangely placed TV to couch location.

You will love STJ and you will love the Westin! Enjoy!!!!!!

Have used this unit for more than 20 years during this spring break week. Wish we could go again this year. Great view of Bay, individual area parking, swimming pool and barbeque.

Fabulous private pool (lights for nighttime swims!) and patio for this 3 bedroom Virgin Grand villa. The Villa is laid out like a townhouse with two floors; master bedroom downstairs and two bedrooms with their own bathroom upstairs. Laundry room upstairs. Full kitchen and outdoor grill. Easy access to amazing swimming and snorkeling at St. John''s many pristine beaches including famous Trunk Bay and our personal favorite, Maho Bay where you can swim with the turtles. On-site restaurant and other amenities.

This is the only grand resort on the island of St. John. The location is close to the ferry and easy to get to Cruz bay for shopping and reastaurants.

The resort has direct private beach with kayaks and tours offered.

The pool is big and not crowded. The poolside bar and restaurant is wonderful. The resort has beautiful grounds and is just amazing!

We stayed in one of the "renovated" villas. The Westin ground are beautiful and the staff are very friendly and eager to help. When we arrived, the villa was FULL of mosquitos because the weather stripping on the french doors was gone. We had a private pool and hot tub which was nice, but were instructed to fill the hot tub daily because it leaked! The 3 drains were clogged on the patio deck and had standing water on the patio at all times - great for mosquitos. Decking around pool was broken in several places. Air conditioning was not working and we had to call for repairs. Internet connection cable was broken and we called for repairs. Internet, cell phones and tv did not work because of storms in area. We were able to get internet in villa 3 days later. The lock on our villa gate was broken 1 day after we arrived and we had to go back to the main lobby to get a repairman which was a 7 minute walk. Many of the light bulbs in the villa were burned out and we called to get them replaced. Bathroom tiles had recently been regrouted but had not been wiped off of tiles. A closet door had the pins missing from it's hinges and fell off when opened. Lovely island with stunning beaches but we won't be staying at The Westin.

Have been going to the Westin, St John for 20+ years. The Westin and the island of St John make for a wonderful, relaxing vacation get-away.

resort sits right on the ocean and chocolate hole. The Westin is far superior than any other resort on the island as there’s only a few properties that sit here the pools are amazing. Service is awesome. The restaurant is great. You have a kitchenette so you can buy food if you need or just have some wine and ice cream. for snacking . Snorkeling right out frt of the resort or a boat ride to The Baths is one of our favorite things to do.;)

The villa feels like a private Caribbean home with plenty of space for families or friends, and the private courtyard with plunge pool quickly becomes everyone’s favorite place to relax after a day at the beach. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and plenty of privacy, while the full kitchen and outdoor dining area make it easy to settle in and enjoy island living. What makes this property truly special is having the privacy of a villa while still enjoying all the amenities of the Westin resort—beautiful beaches, a large pool, great restaurants, and incredibly friendly staff. It’s the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and the laid-back beauty of St. John. Grocery store just a 5 minute short walk away.

This resort is beautiful and located on a quiet beach that never feels crowded, family friendly, lots of water sports. The pool is large with plenty of space for everyone. Rooms are comfortable and clean.

This is the second year we can not go in over 20 years. Wonderful island, friendly people, relaxing. Private villa with your own pool! Comfortable excellent location with parking outside unit. Safe island.

We absolutely love staying at The West St. John! The resort is always clean, and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. It truly feels like our home away from home — we return every year and look forward to it each time. Highly recommend!

The 3 bedroom pool villa was a dream stay. Private walled in pool area with your own built in built in gas grill was a perfect way to end your day. The property is beautiful and the staff is so friendly, everyone from the front desk to the maintenance folks. The property is beautifully maintained The beaches and snorkeling on St John are world class. Can't wait to go back.

The unit provides breathtaking views of Pillsbury Sound and neighboring St. Thomas. Easy parking, and there is a pool for residents of the building in which the unit is located.

Perfect Setting for a Family Retreat! The Grand Villas allow for family bonding in your own private pool and courtyard with grill. You also have access to the Resort's lovely pool with wonderful white sand beach on the property as well. The Staff is friendly and very accommodating to make your stay one you will never forget. Of course, for those that want more adventures, the island of St. John does not disappoint. Enjoy your stay!

My family spent a wonderful week at The Westin St. John - Virgin Grand Villas, where the attentive staff and immaculate cleanliness made us feel completely taken care of throughout our stay. The accommodations were spacious and well-appointed, while the pool provided endless entertainment for the kids and the beach access offered that perfect Caribbean escape we were hoping for. From start to finish, every aspect of the resort exceeded our expectations, making it a vacation we'll remember for years to come.

Perfect for relaxing getaway; Staff at Westin is always ready to please. St John is truly a great place to unwind and relax and enjoy island beaches and beauty. Shopping is duty free too!!
