9/28-10/5/24 is a great time of the year on Longboat Key- the weather is great, the crowds are gone. Rarely need reservations at restaurants. Between Longboat Key and Sarasota there are over 500 restaurants. Only an hour from Tampa/St. Pete, and 2 hours from Orlando. Enjoy!

Longboat Bay Club is a very small resort (15 units on three floors). These units were not built as timeshares, but as owner occupied, so they are extremely large. (1600 Sq Ft). This top floor corner unit (301) has a ridiculously large wrap-around balcony. The larger bedroom has a King sleep number bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds. The kitchens have been recently renovated, and there is a stackable washer/dryer in the unit. There is a ton of closet and storage space in the unit.

This resort is not on the beach, but rather sits on crane bay and is right across the road from the Gulf and beach. Enjoy watching the manatees in the bay from your balcony. There is very convenient beach access in front of the resort, and the resort provides complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas. They also provide complimentary bicycles for guests to use. There is also a nice heated pool and hot tub, and a great picnic area (covered, with tables and chairs) with gas grills. There is a reserved, covered parking spot for this unit.

We have stayed at this resort several time and have been happy every time. This is one of the few resorts that have a marina with access to the intercoastal waterway. Bring your boat or rent one from one of the nearby rental services.

Amazing location on Longboat Key (ocean/beach across a 2 line street and bay behind the resort) in addition to numerous beaches close by. Great beaching, kayaking and fishing - with ability to dock right at the resort. Nice pool and hot tub, plus grills, bikes and beach gear for guests.

If you like an empty beach on the Gulf and want to have a huge unit with a large, well-supplied kitchen, a garden tub, 3 TV's, and more storage space than your home, this is the place for you.

Sarasota, Mote Aquarium, and St. Armand's Circle are a few miles away. You can arrive in your boat and park it in back all week. Or you can stock the refrigerator and freezer and cook all week - Publix is less than a mile away. We find more to love on Longboat Key every time we go.

We went to Longboat Bay Club in Feb. I have to say this places is so beautiful! You overlook the bay and see manatees every day. We walked across the street to the cleanest white sandy beaches, that stretches for miles and miles. The sun sets right over the water! Just one of the few places in the United States that you can see this. The office staff was so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the unit with so much room and great updates, very clean and fully stocked. We enjoyed the deck every afternoon and evening, it was large enough for all six of us to eat and play cards. The restaurants were so close and so many to choose from, the shopping was great also! The men played golf every day, there were so many great golf courses to choose from. We can't wait to go back to this place of paradise. I'm so glad I have been an owner for years.

We have been returning every year for the past 4 years. We love everything about it. The condo is huge, well kept and comfortable. The patio is overlooking Cranes Bay with many manatees and birds visiting. The grounds are beautiful. We like the fact that it is small building with excellent management. The ocean is across the road- a 2 minute walk with a gorgeous and peaceful beach: one could walk for hours watching herons, egrets, ibis and even dolphins.

Shopping and restaurants are a short drive away. We love the Blue dolphin for breakfast, the SandBar and a French bistro - C'est la vie (Sarasota) for lunch. Kathleen catamarans is great for a sailing cruise and/ or sailing lesson.

It is a little slice of heaven and as good as Hawaii but easier for us to get to. My couzin even visits from California because he loves it so much. Yes, we bought a week 3 years ago and RCI - eat your heart out -because you are not getting our week for a trade!

    Recent visit April 2014

we rented a week at longboat bay club week of 11/1/08-11/11/15/08 - our unit was 101 - we found the interior spacious however in need of a serious cleaning - lots of dust in many places - also, couch fabric needed cleaning and or re -do. Pool was only cleaned once during the week we were there and it was much in need of cleaning - common areas other than pool were also not cleaned at all the whole time we were there.

this resort should in no way be rated gold crown. We are RCI members

We bought this unit site unseen and was glad we did. It is in a great location if you like quiet. You definitely need a car for the area. we visited from May13-May20 2006

We arrived a little early on our check-in day only to find out that the earliest we could check in was 3:30pm. They would take no early check-ins.

The front desk was very pleasant and helpful and was able to recommend several restaurants in the area. She also was very knowledgable about the area.

The unit was spacious and clean with 2 BR and 2 baths. We had a corner unit so we had a wrap around patio and front balcony also, which was great for breakfast and/or lounging.

We used the pool most days in the afternoon and found it to be quiet and clean.

The beach is across the street, about 400' away. It's a public beach, but we were the only ones there most of the time. There were not alot of waves which makes it good for kids. The resort supplied umbrellas and chairs, along with sand toys for the kids, which made it very convenient.

The resort also has a supply of bikes, which we did not use, but they all looked like they were in good shape.

The only drawback is the lack of internet access; they have none. You could use the telephone line with your own laptop, but that was the extent of it.

I can't wait to go back

Nice resort. The condo itself was excellent. The side-by-side fridge was nice for water and ice. Loved the washer and dryers too. The condo was so spacious and clean. We had a blast riding bikes even though this wasn't something we expected would be a highlight of the trip. They are regularly checked too. Having use of beach chairs and umbrellas was nice to have available. First time I went to a resort and 4 people can shower and NOT run out of hot water.

We liked how there are only 14 units which makes for a quiet stay. We never heard any noise, walking or otherwise. This place is built to last. Everyone working there was nice and helpful.

Lots to do all up and down the keys and Sarasota. We loved the area. The beach access was just across the street. Longboat Key is re- nourishing the beach so that should be a plus for the area also.

10/01/04-added: Had to add this info since the 2004 hurricane season in nearing its end. These unit appear to be built in code of the S Fl codes after Andrew caused their upgrading. Unfortunately, counties furthur N did not feel it important to change their building code, but who ever built these units seemed to care. Full concrete & steel. On pilings- appear to be just under 20 feetabove ground level....(where you park.) I don't remember shutters, but I would lay odds they are stored somewhere in the garage area storage bins. This info is important to help determine future assessments and insurance charges due to wind damage. I think this bldg will help keep the ins charges & maintance lower than other T/S not built on pilings. JMO.

Excellent 2 bed 2 bath oversized apts originally built as full time condo use. Marriott has passed management to Cunninghan- a good move, since they provive excellent service for smaller T/S developments. Walk to golf, Publix (supermarket) Church or Temple. Beach across street. Each unit has a boat dock. Well kept up, excellent building (Parking under building as it is built on pilings). Resident Manatees may present a show from your patio (Lanai). All kitchen windows have view of the Golf of Mexico..........................

With 4 children, we always look for full facility accomodation-a Marriott is the preference; here, there was MORE than enough room, space to entertain nearby relatives, and enough activity to satisfy our pre-teen & teenage kids-the paddleboats, tennis & basketball provided exercise, and attempting to get as close as possible to egrets without disturbing them became a favorite pastime. They even spent a quiet afternoon fishing with the help of staff. All that togetherness, yet with our own space! It was ideal. We'd go again.

The units are fantastic!! Very roomy and comfortable. We were able to have family dinners with our relatives who were also vacationing on Long Boat.

We enjoyed the manatees. Wonderful restaurants nearby and the beach is beautiful.
